His defaintly in a lot of danger, especially as most of the top order did reasonbly well, note i said most, well i think it being "it" would have some affect on the selectors. Just have to wait and seeMr Casson said:Whether or not it will be "it" for Lehmann's career, it won't stop him being dropped in the first place.
Yeah, I've been thinking the same thing. Bowden in particular has certainly proven again that he is a world class umpire, and I've not had any questions over any decisions the umpires have made.bryce said:i don't know if it has been mentioned yet but the umpiring in the first test match was nothing short of brilliant, if all tests were umpired like this not one person would be calling for technology to take over.
In some ways that's true... When a player is pushing for selection, a vacant spot has to come from somewhere. In the Aussie side though, no one can decide whose turn it is to go.Josh said:Might be Lehmann's last series, but rarely are players dropped mid-series apart from injury.
But, an interesting quote last night at the cricket club "It's harder to be dropped from the Aussie test team than it is to get in..."
As if, mark waugh? Steve waugh? Ian healy?Josh said:Might be Lehmann's last series, but rarely are players dropped mid-series apart from injury.

"No Marto can't go, he's been one of Australia's most consistent batsmen..."
"No Katich can't be dropped, he bowls as well..."
"Hayden? What are you? Stupid?"
If I remember correctly, Steve Waugh retired of his own volition. I seem to remember one morning last year when he announced it at a press conference...GoT_SpIn said:As if, mark waugh? Steve waugh? Ian healy?

Damn figments of my imagination...
Is that to placate the Simon Katich fan club, or because you think there's no one else who can come into the team?Mister Wright said:It doesn't matter what Katich's form is like he will get picked, unless Lehmann stays for the rest of the series and then someone outshines him for the New Zealand tour.
Age had a factor there, though. Can't leave the youth hanging for too long. Which is probably why it could be Lehmann's last series... Although, Katich is hardly "youth".GoT_SpIn said:As if, mark waugh? Steve waugh? Ian healy?

You don't fancy Watson? He's averaging well this season, has been consistent, one of the real contenders with "youth on his side" (to use an old, old cliche).Mister Wright said:Nah, I don't think the selectors wanted to drop Katich, but they knew if they dropped Lehmann he wouldn't come back. So Katich is the next in line, but if Lehmann hangs on to the end of the Pakistan series and performs poorly, and Katich doesn't score a load of runs for N.S.W and someone like Symonds scores heavily in the one dayers (let's not forget he is a favourite of Ponting) or Love or Hodge score a load of Pura Cup runs, then there is enough time to forget about Katich.
However, in saying that if Lehmann does poorly in Melbourne and we win the test I think Katich will come in.
I didn't (mean to), I was asking a question about the pack of losers...Mister Wright said:Oh and another thing - please don't ever associate me with the Simon Katich fan club ever again.
Yeah, Watson's a good chance of course, and he looks to have matured a lot as a batsman in his short stint in Queensland, he is one of many they could select. However, like my argument against Clarke's selection, there are others who have been doing a job for many years (and been consistent for many years) who should get selected before him.Mr Casson said:You don't fancy Watson? Ahhhh, staying consistent *taps nose*Mister Wright said:Yeah, Watson's a good chance of course, and he looks to have matured a lot as a batsman in his short stint in Queensland, he is one of many they could select. my point exactlyMister Wright said:That was the 'official' end of his career at least.

Always one step ahead of me, aren't you?
Although I'd never have complained if you were campaigning for Watson's inclusion.
