Man, hard to believe he's turning 30 - he still looks so young. I think it was Langer's birthday during one of the Kiwi tests too.
Yep, he turned 34 I think.

Glenn McGrath said in his column today that the way he is going he will overtake Steve Waugh's record of number of centuries by an Australian.

I don't see why you wouldn't appeal - you simply never know. Obviously some of the Pakistanis aren't fimilar with the obstructing the field rule.
Someone elsewhere said that he was in his crease when he did it. So if that was true (I couldn't tell for sure), it probably wouldn't be out, because an actual chance of dismissal has to exist. Would have been interesting to see what the umpire would have done.

I know you like to see yourself as a bit of a stirrer, but seeing as you seem to read any criticism of any member of the Aussie team as a personal blow, maybe you need a thinner skin. Just sayin'.

Martyn getting a century in of itself doesn't upset me at all - I really enjoyed his centuries in Sri Lanka and India, they were great knocks. Your constant attempt to couch your arguments in the context of people being somehow "against Australia" or "whining" are really boring, particularly considering the amount of whining you do about how people post.

I just didn't like the contrivance of going beyond a 500 lead in order to nurse somebody from 60 to 100. A 500 lead was always going to be way more than we ever needed to win this game comfortably. If you don't think that, you need to watch more cricket, particularly this match. I didn't have a problem with not enforcing the follow-on - I did think that was an effort to reduce stress on the bowlers. However, the batting on yesterday was tedious, and unnecessary. And if we were having this conversation about India, or Sri Lanka, or Michael Vaughan, not only would you not have a problem with what I was saying, you'd probably be joining in. Try aiming higher than one-eyed parochial trolling, for a change.
Wow you just seem to know everything Slow Love.

Maybe its you who needs to watch more cricket.

It probably would have been not out because the camera never showed whether or not he was in his crease. Only the square leg umpire.

Wait do you mean Justin Langer will, or Glenn McGrath will? Because you never know with Pigeon's newfound batting prowess. Anyway, where's his column?

plenty of time left in the match, and it keeps them in the field for longer, as well as the crowd happy cause they get to watch their hometown hero do well (after Langer and Gilly previously).
Sure, I know the arguments. To me, it just sounds like rationalising overkill. The team was well and truly beaten, and already had no hope of getting back into the match - I think most captains confident of their victory would have just said "let's finish this thing." much earlier. Just my opinion tho.

ZING! Well, I guess it's one step up from "I know you are, but what am I".

Now you've just given up arguing your point in favour of throwing provocative jibes.

I know Slow Love is a bigger man than you, and I hope to God he and other people start ignoring you when you digress to abuse.

He would have been out if there was an appeal.
Unless the umpire though the batsman was genuinely protecting himself, which Martyn may have intended to do seeing as the ball was thrown almost straight at him causing him to take a defensive stance for protection.

Law 37 (Obstructing the field)
1. Out Obstructing the field
Either batsman is out Obstructing the field if he wilfully obstructs or distracts the opposing side by word or action. It shall be regarded as obstruction if either batsman wilfully, and without the consent of the fielding side, strikes the ball with his bat or person, other than a hand not holding the bat, after the ball has touched a fielder. See 4 below.

2. Accidental obstruction
It is for either umpire to decide whether any obstruction or distraction is wilful or not. He shall consult the other umpire if he has any doubt.

3. Obstructing a ball from being caught
The striker is out should wilful obstruction or distraction by either batsman prevent a catch being made.
This shall apply even though the striker causes the obstruction in lawfully guarding his wicket under the provisions of Law 34.3 (Ball lawfully struck more than once).

4. Returning the ball to a member of the fielding side
Either batsman is out under this Law if, without the consent of the fielding side and while the ball is in play, he uses his bat or person to return the ball to any member of that side.

I mean Justin Langer will.

It was in The Sunday Mail (Brisbane paper), but look up foxsports.com.au or The Daliy Telegraph because they are published both by News Ltd, so if it is in the paper up there, it will more then likely be in the paper down there.

No Mr Casson there was no argument just a disscussion that went off track because Slow Love wanted to go elsewhere and I quote
"And if we were having this conversation about India, or Sri Lanka, or Michael Vaughan, not only would you not have a problem with what I was saying, you'd probably be joining in. Try aiming higher than one-eyed parochial trolling, for a change"

So I dont care how big he/she is and I dont wish to argue with you, but I will make a suggestion that you know what you are talking about before you make stupid comments like the one above.

In other words Mr Casson if you want to discuss cricket fine, but dont get personal, then cry when I do.

Haha, tell me about it - I don't quite have a bald spot yet, but it's definitely thinner at the top than it used to be. :) Ricky definitely drew the short straw though.
I've been receding for the best part of the last 4 years so I don't know what you're whinging about.

Three down! McGrath on fire. All caught behind too. That's the WACA, I guess.

And Pakistani batsmen's inability to defend of the backfoot, I suppose, though I am not watching.

Yousef Youhana really did look airy fairy with the bat. Inzi should be able to come in next now if Pakistan lose their next wicket.

As I type, Ricky Ponting has just dropped a difficult catch.
