i reckon, what was up with that shot? i think he realised sami was having problems with his length, so punter comes to give him the tonk, and Sami gets his length right :)

It was the shot of a player terribly out of form.

Just as well Langer & Martyn are in form and playing on their home ground. Although Langer's record is not all that good in Perth.

Martyn lucky to get away with that L.B.W. shout. Looked out to me.

Watching the replay it was probably going down leg, even though Hawkeye says it was going to hit leg.

Sami bowling really, really well. Martyn edges one outside offstump.

Pakistan with three wickets before lunch and still 15 minutes to go.

Stand up all those people who said Pakistan will get crushed in 3 days. I'm not saying they won't, but Pakistan are playing very well.

This is going to be fun with Lehmann dancing around the crease like he was auditioning for some stage musical and 140-150 km/h cherries coming down at him.

I fear for Clarke on this pitch... This will be a real test for him. Facing the Pakistani express bowlers at the WACA certainly isn't the easiest thing for a rookie. I don't mean that he is deficient against pace, but he certainly much prefers the spinners on the slow decks!

You don't have a first class average in the 30s without being a poor player of pace. It means that you have the odd innings where you get away, but it does mean you get out a lot early.

did you happen to see the game the pakistanis played on this pitch recently? even if we do get a low score, chances are the pakistanis will get lower.

Well he'll only get better facing Akhtar and Sami.

These Pakistani Licorice Allsorts look pretty good to me. Two good express bowlers, a left arm paceman and a decent spinner in Danish Kaneria.

There have been a lot of good shouts for L.B.W. today, all of them have been correct so far, but I dread to think if we introduce the umpire for all L.B.W. decisions, we'd still be in the 4th over. I say this because, although, the 'technologists' (I've always wanted to make up a nickname) say the technology will only be there to assist the umpires, the umpires will feel obligated to go to the technology because they won't want to get it wrong.
You're building a bit of a straw man here. Many people advocating further use of technology (myself included) are concentrating on bat-pad and edged behind decisions. LBWs are being pretty much left alone - time reasons are part of that, but also, there's the fact that most people aren't willing to vouch for Hawkeye's predictive powers.

There's no point mounting a slippery-slope argument, because on that basis, we never should have gone to replays for run-out decisions (which IMO, have been a great plus for the game, rather than a minus).
