It's weird, isn't it? People on reddit where shagging off Mitchell Johnson when Warner bought up the 100, but the 100 doesn't really discredit anything he said.

If anything, it kind of reinforces his point. Giving renshaw/Bancroft a chance to get easy runs here to ease there way back into test cricket would have been alot better than Warner getting a chance to retire on a high that he really didn't earn on recent performance. He really should have just retired after the double vs SA, honestly.
That's because Mitch Johnson's article was like 10% about Warner's form and like 90% about his personal text message beefs

Be interested to see why that average is where it is or if that is low compared to other players. Usman isn't someone I think of as a big driver like Kohli, maybe he leaves more of the wide, full balls and scores other ways? He was our top run scorer in england recently opening, it's not like he can't make runs in conditions where you'de expect that to be an issue.
Not basing this off actual knowledge but rather common sense, but I would think it's very unusual. Most players tend to have the worst "average" against good length balls (funny that) and do better against either short or full

Warner is just someone who wants to keep playing cricket even when his spot is unjustified, which as much as I hate him, is fair enough.
He has that classic Aussie determination to prove people wrong, its the same attitude that lead to him playing a leading role in Australia's 3 World Cup wins in the last decade.

Anyway is it just me or did this Warner 100 just seem so inevitable. I remember the 200 against SA last year was the same. Talk off the field just gave this feeling that he was going to make 100 and nothing would change it

It doesn't look like he has declined at all tbh with reflections etc. Looks fit as ever aswell

He could keep doing this in Australia for 3 more years while being mediocre away. Now they'll go for someone who is mediocre both home and away

Smith seems a lot stiller and his trigger movements a lot smaller in this innings than during the Ashes. I wonder if he’s just more relaxed at the crease or if he’s worked on it. Suspect with him it’s the latter.

Issue is Warner's been mediocre at home for a while aswell. Pitches have also gotten harder for batting in that period, but most of our other bats have outperformed him at home, even green and Carey.

That really wasn't what I was saying at all, not even remotely. I wasn't ever in favour of dropping Warner before this series in the first place.

While it is true his form has been mostly underwhelming for a while now, I do think there is a bit of grass is greener thinking going on here which I really hate. Take the last Ashes for example, his series wasn't great but it was not anything like the disaster of 2019, and I can't honestly imagine any of the prospective alternatives doing any better.

Besides whoever gets the nod after Sydney still gets two tests against an even less formidable WI side, so it's not like there isn't the chance to "ease back in to Test cricket" then

Frankly I've got the bad feeling he's going to get a double.

i just got home say fifteen minutes ago and there's two things i have to talk about. the first is that was really really dreadful from smith lol.

the second is i see the average length of the pak seamers post lunch has drifted back into the short of a length territory. it shits me to tears that every year the fast mediums from non australia countries get drawn into the wa so bouncy meme and think they'll turn in to prime mitch johnson if they pull the length back, when really it just makes them way more hittable. you bowl it full in the west and you get rewarded!! short of the length at 135 will get you walloped ffs

Playing both Jamal and Ashraf is so dumb
Jamal has played enough first class cricket to show he's mediocre. He's no better than a no.8 so it really was a frightful decision to play the two of them effectively as specialist bowlers. Trouble is Wasim Jr is one of the alternatives and he's pretty rubbish too.

Pakistan just don't seem to be able to get young players into FC cricket, have them prove themselves over two or three full seasons, then pick them. Of course they're not trying that hard,.

Gawd whoever's at deep point is going to have their work cut out for them with these two at the crease.
