***Official*** Pakistan in Australia 2016/17

As for Oz, obviously a terrific series all-round with Renshaw & Handscomb looking so comfortable at this level the big high points. Also probably the best I've seen Hazlewood bowl in a series too.

But this series felt a bit like Oz home series v Sri Lanka in 12/13. Soft home series whitewash against a side that never plays well in Oz and not the best guide to how they were to go in India. Maybe this Oz side will do better in India than the 2013 version but still think it's going to be a tough tour.

It's probably because they lost a home series earlier in the summer this time.

CW fans are usually a bit more sensible than the media anyway. Usually. :p
I want to see some sort of competence in sub-continental conditions before I get too excited.

Gotta say guys, that win and this series reminded me of the old Australia. The one that dominated for two decades, ruthelss, dominating, efficient.

The World Number One ranking is in our sights I reckon, I have a feeling we're back to gold.
Doubtful.

So good to see Australia thumping a team, showing beyond doubt Australia's return to dominance and the start of a new golden era.

Australia could get smashed by every team in Asia and still be justifiably and comfortably #1 if they won all their home series and beat SA/Eng/NZ/WI away.

Obviously that's much easier said than done given they only just this summer lost a home series and haven't won in England for 15 years but I think it's probably more likely than real competence in Asia any time soon.

I don't really care about the #1 ranking. That feels a bit artificial. Competence is not necessarily winning the series, just being competitive would be enough and eliminating the horrific batting collapses would be a start.

Frankly I would be surprised if we don't lose 0-4 in India. Agree that showing some competence in the batting would be a good start though.

Stanlake in the ODI squad, must really view him as a Hazlewood-like prospect.

Thank god Usman got selected though. May Finch never return

I wasn't really talking about the official ranking. I think if they got smashed in Asia but won everywhere else including all their home series, that'd make them the best team pretty comfortably.

No Aaron Finch is wonderful. Hope Maxwell isn't specialist 12th man again. Oh, and despite my complete disdain for his batting style it's good to see Lynn finally given a go. He's been ridiculous this season.

Thank god they finally seem to realise that Khawaja >>> Finch at 50 over cricket.

Perfect time to select Lynn too. Yes his OD record isn't amazing, but he's in ridiculous form in T20, and I feel like he would handle ODI's well. Bailey is fine but unlikely to be there by 2019, now's a decent time to look at other options.

As for Stanlake, a lot of our other options (Hastings, Paris, etc) are injured and outside of the Big 4 he has more potential than anyone in Australia as an international bowler, IMO. I like the logic tbh.

It probably would but that is not very inspiring. The great sides win under all conditions and that is what I want to see. Admittedly, that is harder to do than it was 40 years ago.

Why Hazlewood? They're not really very similar at all IMO.
Actually I was gonna say he's getting the picked as a teen with limited experience but more on a hunch treatment like Hazlewood, but I had no idea Billy was already 22.

Now I hate the selection, too old.
