How will this Cook innings actually end sweep

Disappointed by the lack of "rapture occurs, Cook is the last one remaining because there are still runs to be scored dammit" option. That and there being no "attacked by velociraptors" available.

Imagine if Tests remained Timeless. We'd still be here in 2026 on this deck, Cook on about 100,000* while everyone else has gone home.

Root did not look that good after lunch, maybe he was caught in two minds on how to progress, but the bowling was decent

Just because I don't think a lot of people will realise how England are actually in a good position here, albeit one still overwhelmingly in favour of the draw.

The best odds on an England win are 11-1, with more like 8/10 to 1 on average.
The best odds on a Pakistan win are 150-1, with the odds being more typically 50-1.

England can only really lose by giving themselves a chance of winning. So they need to get on with progressing the game here and make the best of their chance and make the draw a little less likely. Because they'll start the other two Tests as significant second favourite to Pakistan.

So what you're saying is they should be prepared to lose to win?
That's part of it. This may be England's best shot at a win all series.

They need to show intent and be prepared to get bowled out for 500, although that's highly unlikely anyway because we're talking about the intent to score 4-5 an over. They'd been pissing around at 2-2.5 an over after lunch. I'd rather England give themselves a 20% chance of winning and a 4% chance of losing than a 10% chance of winning and a 2% chance of losing.

The suggestion that Pakistan could lose this game is very disrespectful. They've worked themselves into a very good team especially in the UAE...
Behave yourself. You always want to be batting last in a game like this as you have a much smaller chance of losing.

Eh? Pakistan are always prone to a good collapse. You always have to give yourself a shot. I remember Sri Lanka getting knocked over in a session on a game that had draw written all over it. Strange things happen. Pakistan might decide to try and bat like Bell and making nothing deliveries look like wicket-taking ones.
