Yeah well, I don't expect any leggies to come along anytime soon from New Zealand...

So there is no one even in the Central Otago and Southland areas that can develop through or anything? Are we always going to have to rely on imports or part time spin bowlers down here?
cos no one tries to bowl spin as a youngster. the pitchs at youth level suit seam. u bowl spin ya get smashed, bowl seam ull get wickets.

and with the current selection policy of domestic cricket.. they seem to prefer batsmen who can bowl part time spin rather than specialist spinners..

I wonder if Central Districts not announcing their contracted player list has anything to do with Mathew Sinclair. Has anyone heard if he will continue to play?

Well I found out that Elliott is South African but is close to perminant residency in NZ. He's 25 or 26 and is a decent all-rounder.

Canterbury in the meantime are apparently considering a surprise overseas coach...will be interesting to see who it is if he's successful. And it's definately not John Wright.

Hey guys, just to let you know i will post a summary on the front page of the New Zealand Academy side's performances in the recently completed Emerging Players Tournament in about 30 mins.

It will be good for those who have missed it or only know drips and drabs. I know someone posted a thread about it, but this will cover all the matches in one go. Cheers.

Yeah, Matthew Sinclair will continue, but apparently CD are looking for a job other than being a contracted player for him as well. Pretty strong looking squad for Auckland this year.

Likely XI when all players are available...

1 Jones, 2 McIntosh, 3 Horne, 4 Nicol, 5 Styris, 6 Vincent+, 7 Mills, 8 Canning, 9 Adams, 10 Martin, 11 Walmsley

I'll say this year's attack will be pretty much pace orientated, who's the most likely spinner to replace Walker?

I was thinking who in that team can bowl spin. Hopefully Horne has a much better season this yr

Has Sinclair lost any respect after saying he was interested in leaving Nz then not actually going through with it?

I doubt it.. He was probably just frustrated at the time, as he should have been. People will be happier that he has decided to stay despite not picking up a contract rather than thinking he is a loser for giving an empty threat.

Oh the joy..He is uselss.

He's and adequate new Zealand all rounder, and a great showman. He would make most other provinces around the country. I think he is a much underrated batsman in the longer version of the game. I hope he can come back well this season. Personally I would rate him ahead of guys like Andre Adams and Tama Canning.

I certainly wouldn't rate Matt Walker over either of the two Auckland allrounders - after watching him play for Wellington he simply seems to be a very average allrounder, although those sorts of players do seem to feature in the New Zealand domestic game.
