Perfect timing with the news that Jennings is out injured.
He won't be playing this weekend though. He's not match fit apparently, and will be with Wolves for a few weeks. Hopefully Gordon moves into the centres, we really need that guy closer to the action.

Besides Elliott sees him as a backrower, which is fine with me as long as it's Purtell who makes way and not someone good like, you know, Lewis.

What shower put up by Parra on Friday. Glad I didn't go. Didn't give a yelp. Play the ball slow, no energy in the forwards. Dire.

Penrith were very good though. Great enthusiasm in defense, and with slow play the balls they got up to the line magically. Great turn around from them.

Why would Elliott drop Lewis? He's your best backrower ffs.

I was commenting on how his manlove for a terrible player would be enough to have him pick Purtell over one of our best players.

Anyway good to get a win on Friday. Really didn't give us a sniff after the Newcastle debacle but we really turned up, particularly our defense. Some of the hits were brutal and Parra really didn't look like they wanted to run at us and cop one. Getting hit by Nigel Plum all day would hurt SO much.

Looks my plan of eking out a win by tipping against us worked ;)

Sounds like Souffs had a rough day at the office again.

I think it is fair to say that Preston Campbell should retire at the end of the season. Look, he done a lot for Indigenous rugby league players and is a great role model, and has had a decent career by winning a Premiership and the Dally M, but he is barely first grade standard anymore IMO.

He's loved so much up here, he'll never be dropped by Cartwright, but he was embarrassed by Billy Slater on Saturday night. Time to give somebody like Shannon Walker a go at fullback.

He was only at fullback because Mead got injured during the game. His role this year is to come on and play and bit of dummy half. Shannon Walker couldn't do that. :p

Yeah every Penriff fan has bagged out Purtell. Why he's still there I have nfi.

EDIT: Other than the fact that he used to play for the Raiders....

TK belled the cat on the Sunday Roast yesterday....certain teams just don't show up each week, and some teams are very regular offenders. They'll have a good game, and then clock off the next week. It's shocking really. Teams like Parra, Penriff, Cowboys, Warriors to a lesser extent don't need coaches but psychologists. I reckon Dragons and Storm are the only two teams that are roll gold guaranteed to show up every single week.

Not against the Sharks they didn't.

DWTA. We need a coach that can get some of our better players the quality ball they need to be damaging. We need a coach who has a gameplan deeper than hit up, hit up, hit up kick. Basically we need a coach who has us playing better footy, more often. As well as we went last year, I think we still could have been better.

Besides I think the reality is that coaching in all sports is about far more than just strategy and tactics. Always has been too, just not acknowledged as such until more recently. Anyone who has managed staff knows that getting the best out of them is every bit as challenging as any other dimension of your job. I can only imagine what that part of the job is like when your team consists of 20 to 30 20-35 y/o testosterone filled men.

Hindmarsh will likely pass 10000 tackles in tonight games against the Rabbits which is a pretty crazy achievement when you think about it. Burgey to respond with variations of "WAG".

It's funny seeing a team like Souffs trip over themselves to sign inconsistent impact players like Inglis/Taylor, when they really need someone who can tackle and give them leadership in defense. You don't win premierships conceeding 30+ points a game. Every team should have a Hindy imo.

Lote Tuqiri and Chris Lawrence look like they will be out for a while, which will be a big blow for the Tigers. And surely there is a better goal kicker then Benji Marshall at the club, I mean it's very worrying for them that there isn't.

WAG etc etc.

And kudos to the refs on Friday night who easily cost Parramatta two tries in the first 8 minutes, at least one of which was scored near the posts. What an absolute shower of **** it was. If there'sa worse opening 10 minutes from referees this year I hope I'm fortunate enough not to see it. Disgraceful. The bloke who scored the second one, pulled up for a double movement - if he wanted NOT to score, would have had to dislocate his shoulder to prevent himself doing so. As for the pass for the first try, it was clearly thrown backwards. How they could rule it thrown forward is completely beyond me.

Heard one of the Parra blokes saying on the radio that after half time, when they went out on the field second to receive the kick off, the ref didn't wait til they were set for it! Unbelievable. If those blokes are in first grade next week it's the greatest stitch up since Kevin Campion's career.

I've been hating the refereeing so far this season. One off mistakes are one thing (and suck nuts when you're team gets shafted by them) but cracking down on the play the ball and the resurfacing of scrum penalties are the two most ridiculous things. How is not touching the ball with your foot while playing it so important it deserves a change in possession and a 30 odd meter gain to the opposition? And scrum penalties FFS are we back in the 70s? We're not playing union here, get the ball through the front rowers legs and get on with the bloody game. How does cracking down on these things improve the game?

Also, Lockyer announces his retirement at the end of the season. Probably the right time. Will always remember him as a great player hamstrung by being a **** QLDer
