Anyone see the 82 grand final on Fox last night? Different game back then it was.

Still shake my head at our back line then. And didn't my young bloke blow up when I told him he had to go to bed and couldn't watch it..

Sterling, Kenny, Cronin, Ella, Grothe. All in one club side. Can only think of Brisbane early 90s and Canberra around that time who come close. Mind you, Melbourne these days are getting there too, though I think the other three sides are better across the whole back line, whereas for me it seems the Drizzle is more the Slater, Cronk and Inglis show with a fine, though not out-and-out great, support cast in the rest of the three-quarters.

What a game that was. Surely the greatest GF ever played. If there is ever a better one, I hope I get to see it.

How many defenders did Steve Jackson carry over the line to win in 1989!!

I think, at one point, even the Balmain bench players ran on and still couldn't hold him up.

Will never forget Benny's field goal that struck the cross bar, or Mal's ankle tap on Mick Neil.

Always remember Dean Lance smashing, and I mean smashing, Steve Roach in the early exchanges. Just a copy-book front on hit one-on-one.

Sat Blocker straight down - perfectly legal. Just hard, hard stuff.

Really loved some of those Canberra back rowers in the late 80s - Lance, Clyde obviously, Gary Coyne and Ashley Gilbert as well. He knew how to score a try that fella. Anyone know why Roy & HG nicknamed him "The French Connection"?

Titans at home vs Storm is tough, I guess without Prince, I'll go for Storm.
Cowboys vs Tigers is another tough game. Tigers have the wood over the Cowboys, but I'm tipping the home team in a thriller.

I know she went into extra time and all, but she was a real war of attrition the 89 GF. That was part of what made it great - the players were out on their feet (Roach and Sirro were replaced no less) and it was just desperate, desperate stuff from about the 60th minute onwards. Balmain were like sandbags trying to hold off the rising Canberra tide...then the Jackson tsunami struck,...and she was all over!
