Just heard that the Sharks want Tim Smith and he could be playing for us as early as Monday...dire
As he is dual registered with Brisbane Easts & the Broncos he needs a release from both clubs. The Broncos have allowed it, but Brisbane Easts are wanting compensation. Will probably happen though.

He has a history with off the field drama's and I don't want any more at the club and I'd really like to see Porter develop a bit more before we write him off with someone else

IIRC his dramas were relatively minor? He was just very deep in depression, and was trying to drink his way out of it. Seems like he had some problems, but they were problems that could be worked out. It's been a few years since all that happened too.

Felt a bit sorry for the bloke tbh. Remember a story running one day that he had been seen IN A BAR  Won't somebody think of the children?

I don't know if going back to Sydney is a great idea for him at this stage though, wasnt being there half the problem to begin with? I'd have liked to have seen the Broncos do more to try and keep him in Brisbane, we have plenty under the cap and with Lockyer winding down his career Smith is potentially a ready made replacement. Ben Hunt has been a good lower grade player but right now I'd say Smith is still a better chance of a long term first grade career than him.

Always liked the look of Smith. Had a great kicking game when he first emerged at Parra. Shame he's never quite kicked on.

Didn't Craigos say his "depression" was a scam to get out of his contract too. Allegedly, etc.

Have been ruminating on this for over 12 hours but haven't changed my mind.

Justin Poore - **** off back to Kogarah you fat, useless piece of ****.

Looks 10 kilos heavier than last year, has had no impact in three games, misses tackles, knocks on and last night caused that Tigers try when he didn't slide in defence, a fundamental error.

Should have left the **** in Rwanda pre-season. Looks like Piggy Riddell without the talent. Waste of cash, waste of oxygen. Piss him off.

Poore was so good last year it's amazing how much his form has turned around. TBH though he is clearly carrying some injuries and he didn't play a lot of minutes last night.

Wrapped for Tim Smith; he'll be a real asset for the Sharks. Though Stuart seems to think that no halfback is good enough to play in his team. He's sacked a ridiculous number of halfbacks.

Anyway, can't believe the Broncs are not doing everything they can to secure Hennnant.Instead, they're keen on Civoniceva for next year - a 34 year old with one year, at most, left in the game. Truly was Bruno Cullen's worst decision ever not to do everything they could to keep Hennant. You build premierships around marquee front rowers.

Yeah Poore has been pretty poor to start the year, but I don't think any of the other Parra forwards (Moi Moi excluded) would be happy with how they've done in attack.

Joel Reddy is one of my favourite players these days, heaps of quality NSW centres out there, but I don't think he would look out of place in a Sky Blue this year.

Agree on both points.

In three years the two best props in the game will be Ben Hannant and Russell Packer, we have a chance to add Hannant to what will eventually be a solid rotation with Nick Kenny, Josh McGuire and David Hala, surely we should be looking at him.

Yeah Reddy wouldn't be a bad shout, though I don't think they will pick him. Very good defensively - handy on an Inglis or Hodges you'd think.

AWTA. Inu didn't look too shabby last night either I thought. A bit spoiled in the outside backs department are Parra.

Agreed Simon.

I'm hope I'm not making him out to be as good as Glen Lazarus, but Hennant is a 25 year old Australian prop. 'Them' guys don't fall out of trees.

Just on Timmy Smith...like Carney, he's a guy who fell off the rails in his early 20's. But I reckon is just aching for a 2nd chance. And, like Todd, I reckon he'll make it stick.

Granted, he can be a bit of a hot or cold player, but I think he'd be a great acquisition for a playmaker-poor club.

Drop ball is the order of the day at the moment, was so pumped for three straight live games tonight but they have been three of the most horrific matches I've seen in a long time. There are so many sub-standard NRL players running around at the moment, can't see how anyone can justify a case for expansion.
