Wesser is certainly in the twilight of his career, a good get for souths in that they need him and its good for Penrith as they have more than enough quality juniors coming through who will eaily replace him.

DWTA. How long since you actually saw him play fullback? And by extension, how long since you've seen him have an extended run there?

I know it's a slightly lower standard but he was immense the ESL at fullback. He's below average as a centre/winger but given a prolonged shot in the #1, he will shine.

He played fullback two weeks ago didn't he?
IMO theres absolutely no doubt that Minichiello and Roberts are better fullbacks while I believe Sam Perrett is too, hes also their long term choice in the number 1.

He was named at fullback but played on the wing. Obviously been keeping a sharp eye on him.

That dude from the Sharks got one, Carney shouldn't have too many problems.

Brave decision by the Raiders, really shocked they have sacked him but probably left with little other option. Wonder where he will end up in 2010.

Can anybody say they are not surprised? He was a victim of unfortunate circumstance on the weekend, but with his image and history in the toliet, I guess the Raiders had to be seen making a stand one way or the other. Big call especially with their best player.

I agree. He, despite going through a rough patch form wise, is an excellent player and adds that so needed first grade quality to their line up.

So gun Carney will comeback to Australia just in time, when Orford retires. Though it would have been better if Raiders weren't a bunch of cry babies and just released him and allowed him to play for another team.
