has anyone else seen the game though?
for a game with 18 tries it was pretty boring, really they were all soft tries, very few of them were actually created through great ball movement and the like...
a very sad day for the canberra raiders...

6/7! I almost hung myself when I heard the score in the last game. To miss out on the full round by 1 freaking point! And to make it worse I forgot to put my tips in for the footyshow one!

Storm a big call, but Cronk's looked quality at half-back first coupla weeks. Suprised to see howard & Mr Wright go for the Warriors too. Doesn't their record in NZ away from Auckland suck big time?

Friday
Newcastle Knights vs Canterbury Bulldogs @ Energy Australia Stadium
Both these teams were last start winners in a big way. For this match its hard to look past the Knights, everything they touch turs to gold at the moment and with Johns in the form he is its going to take a very good effort to beat them. Kurt Gidley is under an injury cloud and if he's out it brings them back to the dogs slightly, his form has been as good as Joey's in the opening two weeks and he will be missed if he doesn't play. Im expecting another high scoring match, so a good bet could be a total match points 61-70 paying $7.
Result: Newcastle by 28
First try scorer: Milton Thaiday (Newcastle)

Saturday
Wests Tigers vs New Zealand Warriors @ Jade Stadium
This really is anyone's game, Tigers have moved Scott Prince to five eight this week so Ben Reynolds slips into the halfback role. This sort of desperation in week two is not what the premiers want, but with Marshall out they need to fill the void with another play maker. Warriors appauling record in away games should be ignored this week i feel, I can sense a breakthrough win for the Warriors this week and perhaps a move up the table is only a few weeks away. Nathan Fien need to run the ball more though, while his kicking gamehas been reasonable he hasnt showed anything expect catch and pass in the first 2 rounds. Warriors in the margins by 13+ is quite inviting when you consider their record in the close matches, this is paying $3.85.
Result: Warriors by 16
first try scorer: Manu Vatuevi (Warriors)

Manly Sea Eagles vs Cronulla Sharks @ Brookvale
Both these sides need to win this game, most people expect Sharks and Manly to be on the fringe of the 8 at the end of the season and neiter can afford to drop games to each other this early. Manly have started with 2 loses, their performance against the Cowboys was much improved however it still wasnt enough to get the competition points. Sharks blew it against Brisbane, far too much dropped ball and they ultimately paid for it. I expect this to be another scrappy game with plenty of mistakes and very few line breaks, Manly should have enough class to win eventually, but only after a few minor scares. Sharks/Manly halftime/fulltime double is paying well @ $7.
Result: Manly by 8
First try scorer: Luke Covell (Sharks)

North Queensland Cowboys vs Melbourne Storm @ Dairy Farmers Stadium
The match of the round is tucked away at 9.30 on Saturday night with the Cowboys playing Melbourne. Plenty of attacking brilliance on show here with the likes of Matt Bowen, Billy Slater and Greg Inglis plying their trade. The Cowboys are almost impossible to beat up there these days and i expect that to continue this week, they didnt play great against Manly but after a good week of training they will be up for the game. Melbourne on the other hand could still suffer a hang over from their win against the Roosters, also consider the ammount of travel they have had to do in the past week, from Melbourne to Sydney, back to Melbourne and then to North Queensland, the heat will also play its part, for these reasons alone i can see Melbourne getting blown away (not by Larry) in the last 20 of the match. North Queensland should cover the -5.5 start at $1.85.
Result: North Queensland by 10
First try scorer: Aaron Payne (North Queensland)

Sunday
South Sydney Rabbitohs vs St George Illawarra Dragons @ Telstra Stadium
Plenty of emotion around for this game, these two always put in a good game against each other too. The two most successful clubs in the history of our game both will be looking for their first win of the season. Naturally the Dragons start favourite but Souths will be keen to impress their new owners with a good showing. St George are missing some quaity players, namely Ben Creagh and Matt Cooper but Barrett is back he should do enough get them home. Souths are comnig off the bye so they are fresh, but at this time of the season i think the bye is a bad thing, dragons have that extra game under the belt and should dispose of Souths easily in the end. I expect the dragons to come out of the blocks quickly so get on them to have a 9+ lead at halftime, should pay around $3.
Result: Dragons by 14
First try Scorer: Trent Barrett (Dragons)

Brisbane Broncos vs Parramatta Eels @ Suncorp Stadium
Two last start winners should give us a good game here, before last year Parra had a great record against the Broncos in Brisbane, however a 40 point loss put the demons of the past for brisbane well and trully to rest. Shane Webcke is in doubt for Brisbane and if he doesnt play the Queenslanders are really up against it. He was the difference between the sides in their win over the sharks in round 2 and he is the cornerstone of the foward pack. The Eels as usual will be guided by Tim Smith, his kicking game will be essential, Brisbane have some relatively inexperienced wingers in Darius Boyd and Tame Tupou, if he can get the ball in behind them the Eels could score a lot of tries from kicks. The match up of Tupou and Burt will be one to watch, Tupou's size giveshim an immediate advantage but Burt is a smart player who could snatch a couple of tries if he can get around him. Tony Archer is the ref for this game and he has a habit of blowing early penalties, get on Parramatta penalty goal as the first scoring play paying $9.
Result: Parramatta by 7
First try scorer: Wade McKinnon (Parramatta)

Sydney Roosters vs Canberra Raiders @ Aussie Stadium
The final game of the round is a foregone conclusion in my mind, theres no way that ricky Stuart will let his Roosters perform like they did last week, Raiders copped a real flogging from Newcastle and they quite simply cant come back from that. Im not really expecting a big score though, Easts still have a long way to go before they are a premiership threat, their play makers are still learning to play together and this weekend is a good chance for them to try a few new things. Canberra attacked quite well last week, but their defence was pathetic, i cant see this roosters team putting 70 on them, but 40 or 50 isnt out of the question if they turn up with the same attitude. Captain Clinton Schifcofske returns this week but it wont be enough to save his side from a loss. Whatever money you have this week put it on the Roosters in the head to head at $1.35, should get you a couple of easy dollars.
Result: Roosters by 16
First try scorer: Amos Roberts (Roosters)

Panthers have the bye.

Pretty good effort actually. Thaiday 2nd tryscorer, 66 points scored and Newcastle by 24.

I might have to start placing some bets based on your "expert" analysis. That way I can also blame you if I lose.

I hope like hell that you have got the Warriors game right, somehow I can't see it happening though.

I would be surprised if we ended up on any more than 6 points... It's guna be a long, hard season.
