Ya great, very soon PCB wants him to lead pakistan in test only just like england >> Diffrent captain per Format.

May be his stats not that good if he will remove from White ball captaincy job. He wants to lead in all format & also selects player of his choice
Stumped 3rd time in as many matches
Poor from babar, overall 4 times in 3 mos

Indias Ganguly was stumped 15 times.

His grip is non NZ taught. He has been working on that with some specialist coaches in the blackcaps set up as he was not this good 24 months ago.
Mike holds the ball with a ****ed wrist similar to a leggie. As he releases his off spinner this wrist revolves so he gets wrist and finger action on the ball resulting in greater purchase. That grip is new in the last 6 months or so. Of the three new zealand spinners in the last match he got the most purchase. Mike gives it a fricking rip. And has accuracy.

NZ having the best ODI spin attack for a WC in India would be ridiculous
lets not get carried away.

you're relying heavily on ish sodhi staying decent and macewell bringing this nick to other teams.

tbh if macewell makes a decent go of it as a white ball offie after being belted all over the ford trophy and plunket shield, we're gonna need to re-evaluate the talent of like every domestic spinner since 2008. we know spin bowling is hard in nz but macewell being secretly good (which im not sold on) would mean we're more of a graveyard than australia.

NZ statistically is worse for spin than AU iirc.

Is this pure samplesizelol or does Bracewell actually have a niche as a specialist white ball spinner?
Interesting thing is almost all his LO bowling success has been against Pakistan. You'd think they would be above-average players of spin so it should translate to other teams (where pitch assists, anyway) but we shall see.

edit: a good T20I against each of WI and Bangladesh too. Not much else to speak of in earlier ODIs.

i mean the selectors correctly want to see if we can run with 3 spinners in the world cup team and they've settled on macewell so hopefully he continues to pull his weight.

or punch above it, as the saying goes

would be funny if ravindra gets consistent and justifies 4 spinners in the eleven. he's 10 years too young for larsen and stead tho.

Clearly was a mistake not playing him in the WT20 semifinal

These two are batting pretty well now, after NZ made life difficult early on. I'd rather see Southee and Ferguson used in more attacking fashion if they're going to have short bursts.

Your thinking is wrong.you need more all rounder in your 50/50. Majority track in india not help all spinners. You need Santner & Bracewell only or an Allrounder who can plunder 30/35 runs

That's generally true, there won't be that much turn on offer in ODIs in India. Macewell's batting output will be pretty important.
