Well given that we're after a number seven batsman, what we want is a finisher like Hussey. If Katich is going to be picked to bat in important top/middle order partnerships, he has to bat there.
I'm not Australian, I couldn't really care who you select, I'm just commenting on my view of why Katich secured a spot in the side today.

Still, Fleming got a poor decision from Dar. So it's evened out.
Followed up by what should've been called a wide for a bouncer too high over Sinclair's head. Umpires these days....

Yes...but not five...I can't see your logic behind that.
He had 2 overs to bowl and I was speculating that if he got another wicket and then scored a ton he would the only the 2nd person ever to do it. It was very wishful thinking, admittedly.

Very wishful thinking, mate.

Damn, Sinclair goes, never should've been playing anyway.

Im still not convinced about Matthew Sinclair. I still think he looks at sea at times.

I wouldn't mind seeing Peter Fulton at #3 for us, but this series would not be the right time to try it. Plus his form has been a little disappointing this season.

Hamish Marshall is my number three, Styris at four, McMillan at five. McCullum, Cairns, Oram (if fit)/Adams/Wilson followed by the tail would be my ideal order. Peter Fulton wouldn't be a bad option but this is certainly not the series to experiment.

Hamish Marshall moves to three - I would've played either Wilson or Adams instead of Sinclair.

Edit: Looks as though you've changed your post a little.

 What game are you watching? Are you talking about the last ball of his 1st over when they ran the legbye?
I think it's wise to ignore Scallywag.

I don't think McMillan is a certainty either. If we weren't playing Australia, I wonder if he'd be there instead of a Fulton or even a How.

We didn't really need any more bowlers though. Sinclair isn't ideal but not really any other specialist batsmen to put in instead of him unless you want to bring in a rookie. I would have had Wilson in for Mills

I just noticed that NZ have removed the National Bank logo from their shirt.
I wonder if they're going to follow Australia's pattern by only having the logo on their shirts overseas?

Surely we can't rely on Scott Styris to get through ten overs every match though. And if one of the four main bowlers breaks down, Astle/McMillan are adequate but not ideal.

Unless my eyes are playing tricks on me, it's on the left sleeve....

Have you never seen the NZ shirt with the National Bank logo on the FRONT?. We've had that shirt for about 2 seasons now.
