Also tended to rescue an underperforming batting lineup on so many occasions. Gilchrist did that a few times but I doubt he was as burdened with it as Pant is.

Surely Sodhi is too big a risk. Not sure what Matt Henry has done wrong or would do wrong, took a wicket in his first spell and would bowl a good tight line.

I woke up this morning watching the last session of day two…and throughout the day watched/followed the WI-ENG match…
Thought that I might watch a few overs of day 3 today as the clocks goes back an hour…want to watch the denouement of this match tho. My eyes are burning, have to wait for another 30 minutes until the afternoon session commences.

Is Santner injured? Don't understand why you would replace someone who got 10-15 wickets in the last test with someone who's bowled 7 overs in the whole game

Whatever the outcome NZ have made a statement so wouldn’t be glum. That said, don’t like Latham’s attitude towards bowling changes, not ideal from a longer-term perspective.

If Sodhi isn't bowling now as a frontline spinner then he shouldn't be playing, he should be offended that Latham is bowling Phillips instead of him

I don't think Phillips bowled that well in that session though, I would have given Sodhi or Henry a bowl at that end just to try and change things up.

Didn’t like India’s decision to overuse Bumrah and Siraj and not bringing in Ashwin till it was too late (at Bangalore defending 110) either. Should shuffle bowlers around more when you don’t have a reasonable total to defend.

Will O’Rourke would take wickets if there's a bit in the pitch for fast bowlers. So yes, insurance.

Sodhi is not more likely to take wickets than Phillips or Rachin in my opinion. Nor is he likely to be less expensive.
