Kohli tied with the great Tim Southee for the most ducks among active Test cricketers. Both at 38.
That's a pretty damning statistic for poor Kohli, given the lack of batting grey matter that accompanies Tim Southee to the crease. Thick as mince, is our Southee's batting.

I think if India got these conditions in NZ, they would have made 120-130 odd as they would have been mentally prepared a bit.

One thing is unlike NZ, now this pitch resembles a typical Indian wicket and also taking turn.

Whats the deal with Pant regarding batting? Does the sub bat or just keep? If his injury is bad enough india may be a batter down already.

The sub will keep but India will rightly rort the system and have pant able to bat again if the loophole still exists. If you are subbed it should be for the remainder of the match.

Whatever it takes!!!

Haha, that will only happen if they make an injury sub just like a concussion sub.

And no reason why they cant if they already have a neutral doctor available to rule on concussions, they can rule on injury substitutions as well.

And Rohit said it was precautionary as Pant was hurt in the same knee where he had 3 or 4 surgeries at the same time after his life threatening accident. Apparently it had swelled up and they wanna make sure its nothing before he gets back on the field. But he seemed a bit more optimistic in the interviews. Hopefully that is true as poor guy has been through enough already. :(

I think its very obvious why they could not adapt, they were just not prepared for it. I think we will see a lot more sub 100 scores around the world going forward due to a combination of T20 gen AND more home friendly wickets coz of the WTC.

Do they have injury subs yet?

Either way, when Pant is involved it's only fair for the viewers that he always comes back to bat?

I know highlights are terrible for context, but there were some interesting shots yesterday.

Nice to see Conway hit his way into a score. Classic results based anal-sis though, since if he scored 10 playing like that he'd be India.

Nice to see Pant back. I'm out of the loop but I assumed they were still cleaning him off the road after that horror smash.

If this was being held in SENA, India would be gone because in those conditions India are disadvantaged throughout the match due to conditions and the makeup of the side.

This pitch now resembles a typical Indian wicket and even taking some turn. This Indian side is very strong for those conditions.

Just play normally and think of it as batting 2nd after NZ are batting first and do one of those typical Indian home performances. 180-200 will be difficult to chase in the last innings.

The last FC match that was held in this ground was between Ind A and Ind B in duleep trophy, where 32 wickets were taken by seamers and only 6 were taken by spinners.

Why are you looking at last FC match when you can see the current match live?

The pitch was flattish and there was turn by the end of the day. Ind's side composition wasn't wrong. They just got flummoxed by the amount of seam/bounce. Idea was to bat through the first session and then make hay later on.

Even the grass was shaved off from that Duleep trophy match.
