Not a no-ball
I think I am schizophrenic as I both agree with you (when the front foot first contacts the ground there is definitely half a millimetre of heel behind the line), and think it's complete bull**** that that's a legal delivery as the foot very clearly does not land behind the line.

The wording is that "the bowler’s front foot must land with some part of the foot, whether grounded or raised behind the popping crease". I know that if the foot lands behind and then slides forward, the delivery is legit... but it's more than possible to argue that in this instance that the foot did not land behind the line. Is there some clarification that it is indeed "first contact"?

Boult to pretend this lot are Philander and go nuts.

Didn't we concede a crazy amount of extras? We'll probably lose by the amount of extras we conceded.

It's measured from when his foot makes first contact with the ground, when it did the back of his foot was in line with the very back of the line or a fraction behind. Maybe y'all need to buy better TVs or something
The line belongs to the umpires, as lazy commentators never tire of reminding us.

Couldn't see anything behind it on my 26" screen.

Anyway, massive jib from NZ here.

If the back of the foot appears to be almost exactly in line with the line then there's no way you can confidently say there's nothing behind the line. That's in "too close to call" territory.

As Pickup says, there was a fraction of shoe slightly behind the line anyway.

Fitting end.

What can you say? Credit to the Windies bowlers, I suppose, but ugly collapse with the tape in sight from NZ.

Yeah, a bit of googling convinces me that it's definitely first contact, and therefore that was a legit delivery.

Anybody who couldn't see the heel behind the line needs to invest in HD.

Just to throw a little extra controversy into the mix, it appeared that the bit of shoe behind the line had actually come loose from the sole and was hanging out behind the shoe.

Bowlers should have foot long shoe laces that trail behind their shoes and they'd never have to worry about no balls again.

Narine was indeed the difference this series, gave WI excellent control in the field throughout. Though tbf to NZ, that was expected. There are some positives for the Kiwis here, top innings from Taylor coming back from injury btw.
