Couldn't the same tag be applied to Nathan Astle also?Voltman said:Styris should be renamed Slug. He's spineless - put any kind of juice in a pitch and he's not interested.

It seems like it, I spose theres a feeling hes payed his dues over the years a bit more than Styris. Theres no real excuse for such poor performance on bowler friendly wickets given the fact that half the domestic pitches in NZ are greentops....I spose its the combination with high callibre bowling that does it.TT Boy said:Couldn't the same tag be applied to Nathan Astle also?
I used to dread watching a middle order of astle, styris, mcmillan if the openers got out early. theyd nearly always predicatbly fall over and were all prone to the same problems to a certain extent.TT Boy said:Couldn't the same tag be applied to Nathan Astle also?

new zealand's recurring selection mistake... always miraculously appeared back in the team at the start of a new seasonthedarkmullet said:Well Maccas a bit of a joke really.
I reckon he'd be a far more consistent and successfull international batsman if he removed the blindfolded triple summersault charge down the wicket to reverse sweep from his arsenal of shots ..but what do I know?straw man said:new zealand's recurring selection mistake... always miraculously appeared back in the team at the start of a new season

We do need some continuity in the side - Styris is one of the few who has been consistently selected over the last few years... with good reason. But he hasnt been batting well for a while now. Oh well... after this he gets a break and then its back to good old one day cricket.Loony BoB said:I think it's a bit early to be saying Styris should be dropped. I'd give him another series at least. You certainly can't be quick to judge in this test or in the first one, though. Making runs hasn't seemed to be anything simple.
