Not sold on the 3/6 split field here tbh. Feel nz’s spinner’s haven’t bowled a great length this innings tbh

Can't expect magic in one or two overs. Even the Indian spinners had to bowl good number of overs.

That's not bad to give our faster bowlers a little breather. You can't run them down already. As long as our spinners aren't leaking I'm happy to go to lunch and attack after.

Excellent again from the NZ pacers that session.

I'm pleased Boult didn't tour, because I think the selectors would have mistakenly left either Southee or KJ out for him.

We had very good session on paper sure but we did bowl lots of bad balls today. Kyle bowled few looseners, jazzy bowled fair number of short balls
Southee was outstanding. Ideally we should have given few less runs.

Not sure if it's Ajaz's decision or Kane's to bowl flat and fast. That didn't do a lot of good.

I doubt it was Kane's edict. You'd bloody hope not. Patel's radar has been off this Test, and both Ravindra and Somerville bowled a bit flat too - gun shy to go for runs, no doubt, given the precarious state of the game. But we really eased Ashwin and Iyer into their innings' with the way we bowled too flat and with one day fields.

I'll rage if Southee and Jamieson don't bowl after lunch. We need 2-3 in the first 10 overs or the game is gone.

Whatever it takes!!!
The thing about the NZ seamers Vs India seamers is that they pitch the ball up a lot more and are more swing bowlers than seamers. Our current main fast bowlers are all seamers whose natural length is just short of good length or at best, good length. Full is not something they do, except when it reverses.

Which makes it even more stupid that Rahane bowled them as much as he did in the first innings.

Can someone explain the thinking of KW behind getting Rachin Ravindra to bowl now after lunch?
When the need of the hour is to wrap up the innings asap by using your best bowlers what is KW doing?

I'd definitely classify Umesh as more swing than seam. He just bowled kinda ****, hope he comes back second innings.

Hmm... It's quite a decision for Kane here. Stick with this combination or go with Kyle and Ajaz. Couple more overs of Southee and I'd go for Kyle at his end.

Don't think Rachin bowled flat there but no catchers around the bat so don't know the mode of dismissal we're looking for. Although Ajaz hasn't bowled his best I'd get him in now. Get him to bowl wicket to wicket and hope for the best.

This is the session when batting gets a lot easier.
