Then has been some pretty inconsistent umpiring.
Not sure if these umpires are Indian.
Nz absolutely dominating at this stage, India are probably 100 runs short of were they would want to be. Nz without a couple of key bowlers have done well. If nz can get a decent lead will be very interesting with the way both seamers have bowled. India will want to run through nz pretty quick otherwise will be very tough for them to get back in the game.
Will Young seems the real deal, reliable defense and some nice attacking drives, would like to see if he's got the back foot shots on different tracks, pretty sure he will be Taylor's natural replacement at 4.

People saying advantage NZ are forgetting what happened the last time these two teams played at kanpur. At the end of day 2, India bowled out for 310 and NZ 150/1 - arguably a better position than NZ are currently in. What happened next? NZ bowled out for 260 and India go on to win at a canter. NZ’s batting is better this time and the pitch is playing a bit more low and slow but NZ still have a big hill to climb to get to a genuine position of strength.

I'm nervous for this very reason tbh.

At the same time our team is better and seem to have a sense of calm determination. Probably the most excitingly poised test match in years.

Test cricket ... if the contest is even, nothing can beat it. Hoping for a result in the last session of the test match. That'll be befitting. That said wickets in India fall in clusters. Just hoping the pitch doesn't change much on the 3rd day and starts to do plenty from lunch on 4th day.

Your right, but I think nz can put more pressure on this current Indian batting line up, watching the kj and southee bowled I'd say even a small lead will be crucial. Indian bowling took far to long to start putting pressure on, and now will have to start again. 3rd day and India still need 10 wickets plus need to score big again, it's definitely advantage nz

Don't write off the spinners as yet... they will come into party big time the last couple of days. On a variable bounce pitch to faster bowlers at least you can stand outside the crease and try to negate. Against spinners you can't do that. You can use the feet but then if it turns and turns away it's going to be very hard to make contact. I still think this is a spinners pitch, just that they are going to come to play later in the test match.

Article in Wisden saying Southee might the best pace bowler in the world (although a few days ago they had a World XI and Anderson, Bumrah, and Cummins were the seamers, so go figure).
