Add him to Mark Craig and Ish Sodhi for the long hop eradication program. Need another ICC grant for it.

Also I said a few months ago Vijay was a tier below Warner and Cook, that is bollocks. Bloke is quality and is on their level. Would still take Cook/Warner in world XI but Vijay class
I remember picking him in a world XI for 2015 over Cook and got flak for it. If obviously not in terms of career, in terms of current form, he's right up there and still underrated. The guy's consistncy has been utterly remarkable. Really the only series where he didn't get many runs since his return to the side in 2013 is that NZ tour. Almost every other series, he's been first class.

but god do I get sick of us copping bad ones over there because sub-continent sides are generally prepared to yell louder for longer and more often than us.
Yeah and it doesn't even make sense. The amount of fluids the kiwis drink between overs(35 drinks in 2 hours), you would think they have the stamina to shout a bit.

Vijay is a class act and tends to get underrated. Bloke is genuinely a batsmen for all-conditions. Can't say I'm so impressed with what I've seen of Rahul in this test though, and I should point out I've only ever seen him in T20s prior to this.

Yeah I'm not a Dhawan hater by any means (unfairly maligned batsman imo) but I reckon Rahul's son is a better option.

Of course if Indian CWers ever get around to disappearing Rohit you could play them all.

Don't think we want to be drawn into that rubbish.

I'll be labelled a racist but it's a very Asian thing, over-zealous appealing.

Rahul Dravid's son vs. Shikhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar is tough. Shikhar has the mo and I saw him at 4am at Wellington airport wearing a shirt that said "WORD" on it, so you want someone like that in your team. But then Rahul Dravid's son is the future and should be getting game time now.

They're both unreliable as openers right now imo, but only one of them is likely to actually become reliable one day.

Rahul as opener and Dhawan as our number 6 imo. Just bin Rohit. Dhawan's been a tad harshly treated I feel, he's not been awful at all, just all right recently.

It's crazy that the consensus here is that a good 3-4 players in this line-up are considered better test batsmen than Kohli

Root, Smith and KW are considered head and shoulders at test level above their nearest national competitor

Annoying that this match has changed from an interesting contest into not far from a foregone conclusion since the tail collapse yesterday. Latham, Williamson, Ronchi and Santner had been impressive. Didn't watch much of our bowling last night - sounds a little lacklustre though India also batting well.

Santner seems to be confirming himself as number one spinner, despite being the allrounder. Craig is the most guilty of the overspin-not-sidespin thing in Asia - as our poor man's Nathan Lyon he's emulating Lyon's struggles away from bouncy pitches. Sodhi has a lower ER than Craig this match but Williamson, like McCullum, always gives him fewer overs than the other spinner(s). I haven't checked but they're probably giving Sodhi more defensive fields and so feel the general loss of control.

Edit: Checked and Craig pulled his ER in a lot in the second part of the first innings, to end up better than Sodhi there, so the above not entirely right.
