Not much, if any, reverse for Yadav here.

Man picking Mishra over Nohit would have been perfect for these conditions. We need that third spinner.

Unpopular opinion: against spin Ronchi was a better choice than Nicholls or even a fit Neesham
Yeah even though it took pretty terrible selection processes to get there, I think this was the best top five New Zealand could muster for this game. Ronchi's always been good against spin, even back when he was playing for WA.

Interesting whether he'd have been given LBW had that not hit the timber.
Yeah, I keep thinking that if hadn't been in such a good position to play the shot the ball probably would've thudded into his pad a couple inches outside off. Ronchi get a very similar ball, completely misread the length and got his pads in the way as a result.

Btw, very good umpiring on that Taylor dismissal. At live speed it looks like the angle would take it down, but on the slo mo you can see that it's almost certainly going to clip leg.

Santner's defense v spin has been fairly good. Needs to be able to manufacture more singles though - loose balls are rare and aside from the hoick earlier he lacks scoring shots here.

Anyone else feel kohli broke the momentum a bit by not continuing with Jadeja and Ashwin in tandem to the new batsmen for a bit? Too much Vijay.

Taylor's was a 50/50 call from what I saw of it.. would have been umpires call either way..they didn't show the virtual of where it was going to hit, but I'm not sure enough would have been hitting to overturn a not-out decision.

A bit, but I think it was pragmatic too. They both were fading, it was the best possible time to ease in a few overs of Vijay, let them take a break, and then bring them back on when they're looking sharp. Ashwin's few overs after Kane's dismissal were lacking bite.

Ashwin always seems to fade at the end of a 5-7 over spell now that I think about it. Can't remember when he bowled a long spell at high intensity. Maybe Kohli should have replaced Ashwin with Vijay and kept Jaddu on; Jaddu's a beast.

Yup, from the my point of view, I was just happy to see something break from them bowling in tandem. Only risk with just the two spinners, they can't bowl forever.
