I agree with this 100% and was shocked last night by the total lack of effort (bar Latham) from the team.

I saw a stat come up on the television coverage saying NZ only have a win percentage of 18% in India so I suppose we shouldn't be overly surprised, but was disappointing all the same.

I think the team as a whole are missing McCullum's leadership and it will be interesting to see over the summer how Williamson goes. I do wonder whether Williamson's captaincy is going to go down a similiar route to Ross Taylor's.
I had questioned whether KW's captaincy was a year or two premature, not due to his maturity, we know his maturity belies his years, but I did wonder if another couple of years concentrating solely on his batting might be the best thing overall for NZ cricket.

It's too early to say the jury is out, but he does have that look of having the whole world on his shoulders when he's come out to bat lately, like he's walking on eggshells.

Perhaps it's just Ashwin badly exposed him against top class spin bowling, but he doesn't look as assured at the crease as he did 12 months ago. Seems there's a lot going on in that mind of his.

Maybe - ironically - a split captaincy, with KW captaining in tests as the long run captain but Ross assuming the duties in ODI's (his defensive tendencies aren't a drawback in the shorter format)?

Tbh, I'm more concerned about his Test batting being impacted by his captaincy than the short-form.

I'm not sure I have a better solution atm, but I did fear captaincy could just take the edge of his batting numbers.

Wasn't his rise with Donald's coaching run, and then continued during Bonds?
Eh...in 2010/11 he produced a couple excellent spells against Pakistan and effectively dined out on the minnows, but the change wasn't really dramatic and was confined to his ODI bowling. Furthermore, he lapsed back into utter direness the following season (which precipitated his axing). It was only that kick up the backside that saw him transform into the match-winner of 2013-15.

are we at the point where we can complain about the complaining?
I'm actually complaining about the complaining about the complaining.

I don't mind complaining, but I hate complaining about complaining.

Well, the only other viable candidates that I can think of in the test team are Watling and Latham. There's no way you'd throw the duties to Latham given he's still a long way from being truly established as a test batsman (even though he's already comfortably our most successful opener since Richardson). Does Watling have experience captaining ND?

Btw, I think talk of a captaincy change in tests is way premature, and Kane should get at least 2 years to grow into the role.

Haha, NZ fans just ignored the pile of crap filler posting during the Indian innings and started debating actual cricket issues with their cricket team.

Kudos.

Who the **** is this Jadhav and how come he averages over 50 already with an ODI century?
He played two series in Zimbabwe due to India resting almost their entire batting lineup for those series, which are where most of his ODIs and his ton came from. Aside from those games and this game just gone I think he's only played one other game.

Yeah I can't say I have any other viable solution, I just had a feeling captaincy might affect his run scoring slightly at Test level, but like you say it's way too early to know for sure.
