Cricketer Of The Year
That was true in 90's. In last one decade, we have some remarkable chases, I think.
We've had some good ones no doubt. But we still failed more often than not. I can easily pull up some scorecards where we stacked up on batsmen but still ended up failing. In general India have always done better when they have batted first.

Tiwary's boundaries at the end reminded me of a Hindi saying that is very apt for situations like this.. "Behti Ganga mein haath dho liye"

Tiwary had to stay out there and with Yusuf batting at the other end he could just do what he wanted to freely. I thought he played sensibly and once there was no risk in going for his shots, he bludgeoned them pretty hard.

So world cup batting lineup should look like this?

Tendulkar
Gambhir
Sehwag
Raina
Kohli
Dhoni
Pathan
Hard to fit Yuvraj really.

Yuvraj will play. Pathan can't be depended on to bowl well at all, and Yuvraj is at the top of the pecking order or part timers. Besides, one innings from Pathan doesn't override Yuvraj's track record.

Keep the winning combination, IMO. Drop that over rated hack that couldn't be bothered to even show up these past 10 months

I don't think Yuvraj will be dropped for Pathan unless he keeps performing poorly and is axed somewhere down the road.. the guy has played some equally destructive knocks as Pathan in ODIs and is a higher-quality batsman overall. Hope he picks up some form by then though.

Sehwag-Tendulkar have to open, though it would be pretty harsh on Gambhir. Gambhir still averages 43 at No. 3, so we should be fine.

Yeah, I like Yuvraj too. Would love to have him in the team. Hope he hits form very soon.

This innings reminds me of the symonds WC 143 vs Pakistan in 2003. That was the innings that brought him to the limelight as a proper batsman. I hope this innings revives Pathan into a sensible batsman who can build an innings and can be equally destructive

Jimmeh Franklin 98*:-O

I hope this makes him believe in himself. Just need India to toss their wickets away to him to make him realise he can bowl again too.

Let's see a bunch of tools try and protect Daniel Vettori's captaincy after this performance. How anyone can say he's a good captain after watching him lose despite setting 317 is beyond me, his bowler rotation, field settings and even his own bowling was utter crap.

I can only hope that Franklin continues to show his stuff at international level, because his experience in the county scene and experience captaining Wellington would definitely come in handy when people realise Vettori is now nothing more than a ODI specialist with his bowling and a batsman in tests.
