Ashwin is a very unusual and unIndian off spinner.
He bowls little front arm, so front on that he's basically two-eyed (to borrow a batting term) and his stock ball is near enough to 100% side-spin, which is odd for a subcontinent bowler. Early call but I can't see him ever being a part of the Test team unless he can improve his batting a bit and come in at seven. What's the verdict on his batting anyway - would he make his Ranji side as a specialist batsman? I know he bats six or seven at that level.

Looks very accurate though so I think he could be a key part of the ODI setup.
