Wondering if anyone on CW can give me a grade on Watling's keeping from having watched him for any decent length of time? Is he a Sinclair-style obvious part-timer?

If he challenged McGlashan for the four-day gloves at ND this summer by saying "Guptill's 85's shafted me a little, Jamie How also in the wings and coming back into favour, I'm thinking about replacing ****kins to win my long-term test future" would it be crazy talk? Apart from the use of '****kins' in public I mean?
Good question though I don't know who on here might have actually seen Watling wicketkeep. In general though I think we should focus on a proven domestic performer like Van Wyk or Young, and McGlashan for limited overs.

Crap, Guptill gone - I'm already thinking that 85 of his was a luck-inspired flash in the pan.

That didn't move that much. I think it was more down to Guptill having crap defence. Still a good ball though.

We all know NZ are well overdue a catastrophic batting collapse. I'll actually be very impressed if we don't have one this match.

To be fair we had quite a few in Bangladesh - maybe that was our allotment for the year.

I hope Taylor comes good. An ideal opportunity for him to join the rest of the top order and make a score of substance this series.

I was thinking Taylor might feel a level of familiarity with batting in the 8th over and score some runs.

But then I realised that Taylor is not like that. His successes and failures come at the most random, unpredictable times, no matter the conditions or who is bowling.

Ugh, woeful defence.

Pitch is as flat as they come, but it looks like the predicted collapse is coming regardless.

finally. We are supposed to be the number 1 side and the bowling has looked absolutely toothless so far. I hope we win this test match seriously.
