If it had been turning square on the 5th day would it still be a bad pitch though? A lot of batsmen wouldn't have a prayer on a huge turner with Warne/Murali et al bowling, but would we moan about it?

Is it just the "danger" factor you're worried about?

Keep in mind this is only league cricket, not country cricket, and I'm not sure how competitive it gets in league cricket. Astle, Harris and Warne are amongst the past players in the league, mind you.

Andre Adams playing for Colne in the Lancashire League Date - Opposition - (Bat / Bowl)
June 6th - Lowerhouse - (DNB / 5-33)
June 5th - Lowerhouse - (6 / 1-37)
May 30th - Nelson - (61 / 1-32)
May 29th - Bacup - (13 / 3-53)
May 23rd - Church - (56 / 8-48) Included a hattrick in the bowling and 5 sixes and 3 four's in a 24 ball knock.
May 22nd - Did not play due to injury.
May 15th - Unsworth - (3 / 0-32)
May 9th - Ramsbottom - (33 / 0-50)

Next game is on the 13th.

I'm surprised Vettori was unable to bat with a runner, I remember Cairns had a similar injury and he was able to bat with a runner while Astle smashed his 222...a real shame to see Oram left stranded, if he had managed five or so more good hits NZ may have almost had a chance.

I'm not sure if you've ever torn your hamstring before. Putting Vettori in to bat would have been more than cruel to him.

Just found out Franklin is in the Lancashire League with Adams! Franklin has outdone Adams with the bat, having two hundreds and a 50 and averaging 37.9, while Adams has the edge in the bowling front with an average of 17.9 there, and his batting average is 33.2

Franklin I'm pretty sure bowls the same way Tuffey and Martin does, but I'd be surprised if Franklin does better than Martin, to be honest - although at least we'd have more runs. The reason I rather Adams over Franklin is because Adams has a spark to his bowling, good strike bowler.

The starting line of the English innings on Cricinfo commentary: "Martin to bowl Trescothick" - Optimistic!
