**Official** New Zealand in England

Woodster

International Captain
England need to get a move on if they're to win this match imo, lots of time lost already, and lets face it there are bound to me more stoppages over the next few days, NZ will be pretty content with the way its looking at the moment I'd have thought.
Don't think they'll do anything other than bat normally and assess the game a little further down the line. If they bat whatever is left today, all day tomorrow and into day four with acceleration once in a commanding position, it may be a tense finish for NZ if we gain a handy lead of around 200. This is of course being optimistic and hopeful of full days play after today. Still plenty left in this Test.

Y'know, watching these highlights, I've just noticed Vettori has now adopted a stance pretty much identical to Marcus Trescothick's.

How remarkable.

Absolute spit of it: the absolutely 100% straight-up left-handed stance as the bowler runs in, the crouch shortly before he jumps into delivery stride, the backlift as he crouches, and the lumber.

He even plays the sweep in the same way.

Early season cricket in England - jerkoff cricket.

It feels like a tour match for England atm before the real season starts for them.

Fred unlikely to play in this series apparently. Maybe he can come back for the ODIs
Imagine England will win the test series without missing him too much (weather permitting) and I expect they will lose the ODIs whether or not he plays to be honest, big crunch is whether or not he is back for the matches against South Africa, as he may well be needed a great deal come then.

Aye agree with this, but it would be nice if he had some international game time under his belt before the first test v saffies

yeah good point, the idea of an unfit fred brings back memories of an out of sorts Darren Gough from the last time SA toured. Though Fred usually seems pretty competent, if (and lets face it, its a pretty big if) he is fully fit on return I would have thought he would do a decent enough job, if he only comes back in at about 75% fitness or less...could be dire, and more than likely end up with him back on the injured list..fingers crossed though.

Yeah it's swings and roundabouts I guess. Just desperate to see him in those three lions with the ball in his hand tbh. Flintoff
