Haha, that will be the reasoning, though Scotlands bowling attack is much better than the one Ireland fielded.Marshall 161 vs IRL > Fulton 4 vs SCO
Simple. Marshall is the better player.

No win for New Zealand today, imo.

The ironies of life!Oh ffs, now Fulton will be discarded for ages while Marshall gets a prolonged run. Thanks John.
He started very young at list A level. Surely his handful of ODI's earlier this season where he averaged 49 (@90 SR) counts for something in terms of translating potential into runs?Natural potential is all well and good, but if you don't translate it into runs (which Ryder emphatically has not in the OD game) it's little use.
I haven't had enough of a look at Ryder to be able to discern why it is that he's done so poorly in OD cricket so far in his career, but it may be that he doesn't have any great potential in it at all - his game may simply not be suited to the format. I emphasise - I am not saying this is the case, but with someone who's had a relatively long career now and has never produced the results it's a valid question to ask.
I reckon he'll be there if he does well in the Emerging Players tournament. It's arguable that his value as a lower order batsman would be the equivalent to if not more than Hopkins, even if he was only the 5th or 6th bowling option. On the topic of Ryder, from an interview with James Franklin on the Stuff.co.nz web page, it sounds like he's more or less back to full fitness, which is encouraging news. It would've been a tragedy if he'd done any permanent damage to his hand. Franklin sounds like he's getting there as well, and started bowling again last week apparently, but I'd guess he's still only about 80% and might stil struggle to make the champion's trophy.
I wonder if there is any truth to the rumour that he has lost some weight. On the topic of Ryder, from an interview with James Franklin on the Stuff.co.nz web page, it sounds like he's more or less back to full fitness, which is encouraging news. I'm aware of that, but also as far as I'm aware it's not like his performances started abysmal and have been good in recent times? Simply been a plateau of the poor.He started very young at list A level.
Not really - it's a whole 5 games, at least 1 dropped catch was involved, against some of the worst bowling you could wish to see, on mostly tiny grounds. That said, it probably wouldn't have been much different to what he faced at domestic level so at very worst it was a well-timed purple patch.Surely his handful of ODI's earlier this season where he averaged 49 (@90 SR) counts for something in terms of translating potential into runs?
You were gone?Hey I'm back. Victory
