I don't see Wagner hanging around today. fwiw I reckon Williamson will declare mid-afternoon with 300 ahead.

Sending Wagner as Nightwatchman has finally accomplished what a lot of CWs have demanded over the years - demoting Southee to no.11. Hopefully he won’t be needed today with the bat.
Nah they'll send him out towards the end of the innings for some quick runs on the back on an impressive 77 not out he scored several years ago.

Burns is a strange one isn't he. You don't ever feel like you did when Cook, or even Strauss, was there but he can play an innings. Feels like he will be around the team for years to come even if he does find himself in an out as with this winter
What I like about Burns is that he's been consistently good at County level for a number of years, and was before his call up. So many of the failed openers we've had since Strauss were picked on the back of a single great season in the CC then dropped for whoever did well the next year. That applies to Robson, Lyth, Duckett, Hameed, Jennings and I'm sure others too. Sibley was the same (though here's hoping he doesn't end up a failure) and Crawley didn't even have a full year dominating domestics. Whereas Burns may not have been at the absolute top of the charts, but was up there consistently each year. Think it's a better indication that he knows his game and can find ways to come back and succeed even if he goes through some lean patches.

I also like that the aesthetics of his technique are so horrible it must be extra demoralising for any international bowling unit that ships runs to him.
