Dont want a long tail as Santner is a better bat than the pure bowlers. Santner is also being blooded with another spinner in McCullum to lessen the pressure on him bowling spin alone. Plus there are Asia odis soon arent there although I still dont know if 2 spinners would be chosen regardless. Corey leaves a big hole in the side.
Im all for young player development, but in england surely its better to develop wheeler? And You may as well back Mccullum at 7 and ronchi at 6. If Ronchi cant handle 6 why is he keeping Watling out of the team?

Cant fault the two spinner theroy to lessen Satners pressure on intro, except were kinda expecting him to bowl nearly 10 overs either way with the team make up.

And do we know when the next Asian ODIs for NZ are? Theres allways some in the near future I suppose but ive heard no plans.

As Stokes goes, I'm just pondering why it's so much harder to chase 400 than make it in the first innings. I'm sure there are valid reasons, but beyond vague talk of 'psychological', I don't know what they are.
Obviously it was easier for NZ with Chris Jordan in the attack, but that doesn't explain Tuesdays' result.

McClenaghan unselfishly ruining his own figures so that a declaration can be obtained.
With two new 'aggressive' batsmen at the crease it was critical for Baz to make an 'aggressive' move and get Guptill into the attack, and then quickly get the 'aggressive' McClenaghan back into the fray, while setting 'aggressive' fields to complement their bowling styles.

Right old laugh, aren't you?

The crazy part is we were 20 runs ahead of where NZ were at the time.

I've just never heard the word aggression bandied about so much since Baz became captain. The Aussies always bang on about it in regards to their sledging and gamesmanship, and now it's entered the English lexicon since they scored 400.

Wheeler over McClenaghan? Im keen. I think Santner has a good game today. Ronchi batted 6 today. Ronchi is preferred to Watling for power hitting. Santner batted okay. Probably the biggest crowd he batted in front of.

There's a series in Zimbabwe, that would be where Santer will be given a lot of responsibility I imagine. Some South Africa ODI's coming up as well which promises to be a tough series for him if he plays.

Yeah, i hope Wheeler plays in one of these games. Though with the conditions being what they are Milne aka the Fast Gavin Larsen is the one who's being missed most. Save for those heady few months (just before and during the World Cup), NZ have effectively been without Vettori since the 2011 WC so not sure why people are harping on about him.

Every McClenaghan interview he describes his own bowling as aggressive, two times minimum. He even said he bowled a heavy ball and his fast pace was a point of difference!

Nathan McCullum seems to have taken quite a bit of tap on the last couple of games.

I meant Wheeler over Satner and shuffling everyone else up a spot. Ronchi batted 6 cause everything in the situation called for him, And I dont thin perfering Ronchi for his superiour power hitting is a statisically better strategy than selecting Watling and expecting results in the greater variety of situations he offers.

My main point is, outside of the subcontinent (and Zimbabwe/uae) select four pace bowlers and let the batsmen do their job.

Long tail. Need to develop Santner. Elliot is now a specialist bat when originally selected as an all rounder. We wanted 3, cannot have 1. Need 2 min in Corey and a spinner.

Id rather Dougie Bracewell let alone Wheeler to McClenaghan.

The mystery's of the 'heavy ball', a supernatural power undetectable by the speed gun. "He only bowls at around 135 kph - but he does bowl a heavy ball".
