i'm not convinced a lenghtened bowling attack will make much difference if any at all....... i would love to be proved wrong.
Me either - I reckon we should just bat for as long as possible, and try a few innovative fielding measures and hope for the best.

I think Vetorri can bat at 8 quite comfortably.
Oram + McCullum + Vettori = 2 genuine batsman (who end scoring more than 2 top order batsman would anyway knowing NZ).

Franklin hasn't shown anything with the bat at international level though - perhaps Vettori could give him some tips.

How many warm-up games are being played? I would personally decide whether to play the extra bowler if the fourth bowler (Martin or Butler) is in good form. Too bad they didn't get much bowling in Banglasesh - Wiseman should have never played.

"Two spinners is a luxury for such a short test tour - a four-day warmup match against New South Wales starting on November 11 followed by tests at the Gabba in Brisbane and the Adelaide Oval." - Millmow again.

"Wiseman will not be in the frame for Brisbane but he could come up in discussions before the second test in Adelaide, which is traditionally a very flat wicket.

The concern would be the size of the side-on boundaries: a mistimed sweep can find its way into the car park."
- Millmow's a CW fan, and was reading my posts!

haha i just want to see fulton fufil is potential and don't think opening is doing him any good, if he does well then i doubt it will be a one-off.
If it pays off, and it works, why can't it be just a one-off situation? 8-)

i personally think his future lies in the top/middle order(positions 3-5) and think he would have a more profitable career batting there than opening.

ok so if they're not going to open with McCullum, I'd rather see Fulton given a go v BAN rather than see Macca back in the middle order..........

but here's an option for a 1 off situation - why not open with Macca????
I know it didn't work in the WC, but this is slightly different - the bowling opposition is not of the same class, and he knows he's fighting for his intnl career - he only averages mid 20's in ODIs so anything around or above that is a bonus IMO...............

he's got that heavy bat of his and loves to smack the ball around, so why not say to him - here you go mate - go & do a Greatbatch / Sehwag in the first 15 overs & see if you can salvage some sort of career..............

I'd agree but my main concern is that most of our batsmen seem best suited to middle order positions, yet we only play 5 batsmen!!!!!!!

we already have Fleming, Styris & Astle, with McMillan, Sinclair, Marshall & Fulton also looking to get a start.............

maybe fulton could out perform some of the middle order incumbents ? i don't know, i agree about mcmillan having another crack at opening, in the world cup i recall him getting 70 odd in one match opening but i think it was against a minnow either canada or bangladesh.

McMillan opening? He has stated he isn't an opener, and not a 3 either. He wants to bat in the middle-order, but we have better batsmen ahead of him at the moment. McMillian is an unreliable opener, especially with his lack of foot movement.

Bryce, this is coming from you, who thinks Bruce Martin doesn't flight the ball and is similar to Brooke Walker....

please show me where i said he doesn't flight the ball ? by comparing him to brooke walker i meant that he will always be a good domestic bowler but inaffective at international level.
it's not like mcmillan opening would be a long term solution since he is not even going to australia, just to fit him in somewhere and maybe give him some confidence for the domestic season and possibly make it back into the national side via good form.

well franklin has been left out of the starting 11, i would of liked to see him in for someone like harris who has turned into a bits and pieces player of late, heres proof:

averages for harris' last 38 ODI matches(which goes back over 2 years):

32 innings, 7 no, 586 runs@23.44, 2 Fifties, H/S:55
13 wickets@62.31, B/B:2/43, RPO: 4.47

does anyone else think that age has caught up with harry and its time for him to go ?

Yeah definitely. I would like to see Fulton play instead of him or McMillan in the middle order. NZ really does hang on to players for a long long time. Not too fond of them leaving Franklin out, I would of thought he needs as much match practise as possible before Australia. He should definitely be ahead of Mills and Butler.

yeah butler has been left out too....him and franklin are fighting over the 12th man duties while adams and mills make the cut.

Poor start so far. 78/4.

Same old from McMillan, chopping one to the keeper...he also got a life on 0.
I long for the day that a NZ cricket side actually bats the first 15 overs without losing 2 or more wickets.

I see Chris Cairns is growing a beard.

94/5...the Bangladeshi's are playing well actually..far better than their form in the test series. But NZ are once again sub-standard and looking rather shell shocked at how well the Bangladesh team are playing.

that beard is disturbing . . . styris has got some facial hair as well.

Bangladesh actually look pretty good, most of the fielding is pretty sharp. Hopefully the Black Caps play some sensible shots until the 40th over where if we have enough batters left we can start smashing

The thing I find annoying is that when you continuously see certain NZ players moan in the media that they never get the recognition they deserve or the respect...they go out & play like this more often than not.

Mills starts off with a half-volley which is easily dispatched to the boundary.
(Fortunately he then picked up a wicket). 4/1.
Is it me or are NZ slowly losing the plot under Bracewell?. We could be following South Africa down the garden path if we're not careful!
