His 2nd innings dismissal was a bit of a worry. Probably nerves though.Amidst all the discussion around our bowling attack, it's been missed that Anderson has done a tidy job with the ball this match. 2/34 in the first innings were handy figures too.
In germany they say "Das Telefon Klingelt".Taxi for Bruce.
Really? I wouldn't agree at all. Ronchi has better first-class batting stats, in a much stronger domestic comp, and from what I've seen is a far superior keeper.Watling is far, far better than Ronchi.
Watling is a better wicketkeeper from what I've seen in tests, and to his credit he has been arguably our second best batsman after Taylor since coming into the test side (including being the only non-muppet in SA bar Brownlie's ton), and balance wise he isn't a one dimensional "thats the way he plays" biffer and he has a better technique than Ronchi. When you already have McCullum at six Ronchi at seven is disquieting.Really? I wouldn't agree at all. Interested to know why Watling is preferred.
You're just irrationally downplaying Ronchi's ability because you disagree with the fact he's even eligible to play for us. He's scored two centuries against a strong ND attack with Tim Southee in it, two centuries on the A tour, and 2 or 3 others in the last 12-18 months. Not many players in New Zealand could do that. He's definitely the better gloveman as well, although Watling has been tidy so far.Watling is a better wicketkeeper from what I've seen in tests, and to his credit he has been arguably our second best batsman after Taylor since coming into the test side (including being the only non-muppet in SA bar Brownlie's ton), and balance wise he isn't a one dimensional "thats the way he plays" biffer and he has a better technique than Ronchi. Watling's domestic record has an asterix next to it because most of it was spent as a mediocre FC opening batsman. Ronchi's last few seasons in Australia weren't very good iirc and when he came over here he scored all his runs down the order, and the Colin Munro Rule clearly states all runs scored below number four in the Plunket Shield don't count.
Also one gets the feeling Watling would crawl over broken glass for the team, as is seen in his acceptance to get shunted around roles. Ronchi is over here for purely selfish reasons.
And **** it's all happening here. KW looking much better than part time.
That's a very good point. He would have to perform very well domestically to displace someone who has been a loyal kiwi for his whole career.Watling is a better wicketkeeper from what I've seen in tests, and to his credit he has been arguably our second best batsman after Taylor since coming into the test side (including being the only non-muppet in SA bar Brownlie's ton), and balance wise he isn't a one dimensional "thats the way he plays" biffer and he has a better technique than Ronchi. I have to agree with that though. When he played for Australia his keeping was impeccable, even when his batting form is very sporadic. You're just irrationally downplaying Ronchi's ability because you disagree with the fact he's even eligible to play for us. Quality option for us IMO, but Watling's earned his spot.
