BARNES OUT
Methinks something needs to be done about calculating averages using not-outs. Grant Elliott's average is 72 and his highest score is 61*. Surely there must be a way of tempering the excessive advantage gifted by not-outs to a batsman's average?
Or you could just ignore stats and rate him on how he plays.

But no one would ever do that.

I thought the NZ'ers bowled as expected, they've been a good ODI bowling unit for a while. With the bat, I thought they were fantastic. A shame McCullum and Fulton got out when they did because I thought they were just starting to look real threatening and the game could have been over much sooner than it was although, fair play to Fulton he got a really good ball. But yeah, Elliott was really, really good. Scored runs at will toward the end, took a few risks and just generally did the business.

The Aussie bowling was average in patches but in other patches, really bad. What's with all the short stuff from Hilf in the batting powerplay? You never bowl short when the batsmen are going for you, top edges with big swings so easily go flying away for four. I get the feeling it wasn't his rhythm so much as poor tactics because when he got the ball up there, the guys couldn't take the long handle to him.....not even Broom. (haw haw). The Aussie bowling unit is in real trouble. When Hopes is in your top couple of bowlers for this series and the previous one......

I enjoy all the excuses from some Aussies on here that they are playing so poorly because of all the injuries/retirements.

Bond
Vincent
Oram
Styris
Ryder
Fleming
Astle
McMillan
Franklin (not injured, but not back to his best after injury)

Yeah, NZ is hardly missing anyone.

I guess NZ's depth is just far better than Australia's.

NZ now series favourites; New Zealand $1.36 to Australia's $3.00

But Australia favourites for the 3rd match in Sydney; Australia $1.57 to New Zealand's $2.50

Go figure

Interesting, but maybe not in the way the post implies.

Those odds give Australia a 61 % chance to win the 3rd match.

If they were to have a 61 % chance to win the 4th and 5th as well, one should get odds of $4, not $3, on Australia for the series. Odds of $3 suggests they have a chance of 71 % of winning the 4th and 5th.

Yup, understand the difference between the series odds when a teams 0-2 down as opposed to the odds for the next single game,I just don't think Australia should be favourites in Sydney.

I reckon the Sydney wicket will suit Vettori & Patel even more so & if the Aussie selectors don't bring in a specialist spinner for this game, they well and truly need their heads read.

One of my work colleagues was in a corporate box at the G last night and when I texted him, he was just about to head down to go out for beers with Kyle Mills and the rest of the team. But then again, this is the same guy who won $40,000 on Pittsburgh winning the Super Bowl so he's a bit of a high roller...
Ok

yep looked really good..
Congrats boys
I have been listening and watching here in NZ, radio sport and Sky
The Aussie comentators are absolute tossers, Sky a bit better
The radio commentator was giving Vettori crap for ages about no wickets etc, I think it was the Aussie get back at the last games aussie wicket keeper cheats call by Vettorri.. but the take the piss how bad a bowler wettori is was crap

loved the win and as others have reffered we have prob our best 2 players out:
Bond and Jacob Oram
with Jessie ryder and Scott Styris being helpful too

Loved our double spin team with Patel improving heaps

and in the end Kyle Mills was picked up in India cricket auction last night $291 k
Jessie Ryder $311k?
Wicket keeper for Aussie Haddin? was passed in which was farken funny:laugh:

Its still all about Aussie, Aussie man of match, with a slow run setting speed (with batters plenty to come} that was the game clincher
Aussie is crap and that is good to see
Aren't you going to have him out forever?

Yup, he's gone, well & truly. And even if the was some miraculous turnaround in how the ICC view the ICL players, word has it that Bond himself wouldn't play for NZ again (with Justin Vaughan as CEO) after how he was treated.
