It was something of an on-field joke I think. He just bowled a medium pacer very short on the leg stump, and Oram wound up getting himself in a tangle trying to get on the leg side of it and it nearly took him on the helmet. It was an amusing moment.

How great is this? Whoever said NZ isn't the second best test side in the world has rocks in their head. NZ will challenge Australia here and they were never worth the 11 bucks they were paying at the start.

Man - Oram is smoking it! Not very good captaincy by Ponting.
Mills looked calm and collected at the crease - hopefully he can translate this into his bowling form (i'm not confident though).

350, maybe 375 if Oram can keep smashing it, continue to give Martin the strike for the last 2 deliveries off each over. The Aussies bowlers didn't look to crash hot - 3 medium-fast bowlers on a good batting wicket - what could have been if NZ played with a bit more disciplin and confidence.

Certainly a respectable score by NZ, probably 50 short of a good score though. The proloning of the innings also gives the NZ bowlers a shorter period of time to bowl against the Aussies, which is ideal. If Australia bats well today, or if NZ bowls poorly, it gives the NZ bowlers the opportunity to regroup for day 3.

You're kidding, right? Oram, Sinclair and Mills played well, but the rest of the team has done nothing on a flat wicket against Australian bowlers who really aren't performing, and I will be very surprised if the New Zealand bowling has much penetration on a wicket like this against the Australian batting lineup.

This has been so great to watch. If the other batsmen had performed we would be in a brilliant position. I'm disappointed that there are only 2 tests. There are 3 more in NZ early next year though, looking forward to those.

My hat goes off to Oram - this is the most fantastic innings under pressure I've seen in years. Really good stuff, and I'm not ashamed to say it as an Aussie.

On the other hand, Ponting's captaincy has been absolute crap.

NZ bowling really well at the moment. Batsmen are surviving at the moment though.
