I think you'll find a lot of people are questioning it already...with Katich being 29 and Lehmann 34 (!?) I'm not sure exactly what they were thinking either but anyway. Maybe he'll come out and score 100 in the second innings and prove us wrong i guess.Sanz said:Vettori to Lehmann, OUT: caught behind! tries to force from the

Australia 128/4, Partnership of 19
DS Lehmann c McCullum b Vettori 8 (11b 0x4 0x6)
People blame Ganguly for how he dealt with Chopra and Opening Slot, Isn't CA and Ponting doing the same thing to Katich. Katich was clearly the in form batsman along with Clark and he should have been in this Aussie team in place of Lehman.
But this is the Aussie team, they will still win the test and series and no one will even Question this move.
Yeah, i agree. I was up at the first day and he seemed to be a bit formulaic with the bowling changes, but then i assume he knows what he's doing haha. I was a bit surprised Clarke didn't get to roll the arm over, he was on fire in the field though very good to watch.Slow Love™ said:Possibly, although I think that Ponting could also be a little more flexible with the bowling when things aren't going so great. Not sure I'd risk Lee against top orders in tests for a while tho.
just going on what was reportedly said in the article I wouldn't call it dissent......unless it was accompanied by a big song and dance on Warne's behalf. You are allowed to ask an umpire a question in regards to a decision that has been made.biased indian said:ICC to fine a non subcontinental player for that are u kidding

I didn't read all the Aussie newspapers but he certainly wasn't 'slammed' in the one I read for not walking (Daily Telegraph). It mentioned two contentious third umpire decisions, and that was one of them, said in both cases the batsmen may consider themselves to be slightly unlucky.Macka said:On the stuff.co.nz website I read Sinclair was 'slammed' in the (Australian) papers for not walking, this is pretty rich coming from the Aussies. Didn't see Langer too interested in walking when he edged to McCullum.
What an innings from Oram though.

FaaipDeOiad said:You're kidding, right? Oram, Sinclair and Mills played well, but the rest of the team has done nothing on a flat wicket against Australian bowlers who really aren't performing, and I will be very surprised if the New Zealand bowling has much penetration on a wicket like this against the Australian batting lineup.
Heh, so true - three boundaries in a row to Gilly off Vettori just now.Son Of Coco said:There's some good banter at the moment going on between Tony Greig and Ian Smith:
(Vettori bowling to Gilchrist)
Smith: Vettori is one ball away from taking a points victory here if we're awarding it round-by-round (near the end of Vettori's over).
Greig: He could be one ball away from getting hit into the stand also.
Yes, but if New Zealand do not break this partnership very soon, it may not be tomorrow. Gilchrist and Clarke are very likely to have the lead close to 100 by tea, or just after. Then if they bat out the day, they could be in real trouble. It is important that they take a wicket, because they won't restrict these two.viktor said:sure seems to be awesome cricket
Watching it, you just knew he was going to do it, too. Having said that, I'm not sure that a short one was the ideal delivery to bowl to him at that stage. Clarke's feats so far are one of the best examples of "silencing the doubters" I think I've seen for a long time.Jono said:Clarkey gets his 100 on the last ball before the lunch break. Ansolutely amazing.
Clarke you are a gun! Brilliant!
