Yeah it was great. Both teams were very close to full strength and as is usually the case when that happens the scores are more like the early 2000s (unless the pitch/ground size is silly).Anyhoo, I’m glad we got to see a good tight ODI, almost a throwback really in the era of 350-plus scores. NZ don’t usually hit the ground running in Aus, I guess the pitch tempered home advantage a bit but still a really fun game. Savour it really, because international white ball cricket as we know it will only continue to decline.
Yep, exactly.Yeah it was great. Both teams were very close to full strength and as is usually the case when that happens the scores are more like the early 2000s (unless the pitch/ground size is silly).
It was a real throwback. I reckon anyone who watched who used to like ODIs but doesn't anymore would have been reminded why they did.

I cannot agree with you more. If they're not gonna play Allen at the top, then Phillips should be automatic pick at 6 for me. In fact, he's probably automatic pick in all 3 formats for mine now.He was when he got signed for megabucks in the IPL but got smashed by the Aussies then went down in the queue. I agree about Bracewell - really weird. And we've got Glenn Phillips - world class T20 player, great fielder, lightning between the wickets, 1st class av of 40, as good a spinner as Bracewell and he can't crack the ODI team.
Allow my dangerous lightweight couple of glasses to weigh in pretentiously.
Cricjet won't flourush if it goes down the t20 us everything route because it's entertainment value put over sport (it's a sport, but focused on blockbuster spectacle and sfx over a deep plot and characters). Entertainment is cool and all but even if we take the pinnacle of it, the IPL, Indian fans online are big on their franchise but the most intense chats are definitely for the national side in tests and odis (not singling you guys out I just need the comparison and ipl is so much bigger than big bash, super smash etc)
National boards are gonna learn the downsides of chasing the casual imo. Holding someone's fleeting interest is so much harder than holding a sports fan because when you fully enter the entertainment market you're not competing with soccer or whatever anymore but marvel films and concerts.
Enjoy that. Pricks. F'n nzc.

It's you and an entire army bro, haven't heard any rumours of late that bringing Santner on early was a clever piece of captaincy. That's definitely true. It didn't look like fun batting against that new-ball under lights, almost like the night sessions of a Day-Night Test match. Would also think knowing you've got Maxwell still to come in would make you want to take as many wickets as you can (and get him in as soon as you can) even more but I don't know maybe that's just me
