**Official** New Zealand in Australia 2015

It's also because:
- the ball doesn't generally deteriorate in NZ conditions
- dew isn't a factor
- the timing works better for broadcasters
- there's not much of a "leisure class" in NZ that can spend all day at a test
- there's not the popularity and sheer numbers of India

Still need to take advantage of the boutique atmosphere but installing lights at the basin and hagley and university oval shouldn't be hard.

Just watched the Lyon decision, gotta say that regardless of hot spot, if you watch the replay you can see the ball deflect massively anyway. So weird that decisions like this get made by professional umpires, surely the pressure of the situation can't be getting to them that much?

bizarre

Last night's debacle by the openers chasing sucker balls when runs were irrelevant highlights what a mistake it was to drop the mighty TMac.
Simply not the case.

Fact. You can't win a Cricket match without making runs, unless the other team annoyingly forfeits because they could only field a team of 7.

Siddle might be the new Shane Watson on the DRS, every time he hits the pads he tries to get S Smith the review the decision.

Went to the match yesterday and the commentators were right about the increased visibility for the crowd. From side on the pink ball is easy to pick up, even when the quicks were bowling.

I'd like to see the size and quality of that screen enlarged tbh. The hotspot cameras are costing a bomb, but then they cheap out on the third umpire's screen size.

Not particularly timely or relevant but I tuned into this game for the first time today with 20 mins left before the close and it looked bloody dark and I had issues seeing the ball.

Breaking news:

Australian big heated quick Peter Siddle is at the centre of one of the biggest match-fixing scandals to ever hit cricket.

THE BACKGROUND
TO UNDERSTAND the trial going on now, we must go back to 2015. This was when Siddle allegedly approached ICC Umpire Llong and offered him a banana to under-perform.

Siddle stood to gain places up the all time Test wicket takers list via a scheme influencing the individual performances of fellow players and fixing the results of matches in the Test match.

That frikkin' Lyon decision was the only subject on talk back this morning. What can we expect today? My predictions still hold. We'll get a lead of 137 and Oz will chase it down in 30 overs with 8 wickets to spare. Warner will get 70 odd and be man of the series.

Amazing, KFC even has to put advertising on the third umpire's screens.

looks like i've been outvoted on the lyon decision. my feed wasn't great but i thought it was inconclusive at the time. fair enough.

nz can feel robbed by that then, but there are no excuses for the tactics after it. channel bowling plus occassional bouncers and yorkers were all that were required, and instead mccullum kept getting craig to come around the wicket bowling leg-middle line and getting swept, and then kept a spinner on at one end when all starc could do was hit and didn't want his foot getting another whack. southee is also a weaker tail smoker than boult.

i thought keeping santa on to bowl dead straight outside off was good, but other than that it was pretty bad and new zealands continuing inability to keep bowling well to the tail has cost them this test.

batting was hard under lights, and both guptill and latham got frisky thanks to some world class bowling and exposed the middle order who by and large got deliveries most batsmen would struggle with. southee and boult not testing australia more on day 1 under lights in conditions they would normally thrive in has hurt.

Agreed, McCullum's captaincy was bizarre.

Why was there no indication on snicko when the ball hit Lyon's shoulder? Have had a look at comments being made elsewhere, and they're saying the same thing I am - the RTS seemed to be from another delivery entirely, just as the lbw footage was.

Warne trying desperately hard to remember the speech channel 9 gave him overnight on his foundation.
