It wasn't a road. There was swing, there has been swing available with the new ball, and bits of reverse at times.

There's pace and carry.
There was seam movement throughout the first innings as well, when the ball was actually put in the right place.

And the ball is starting to turn and bounce significantly.

I am not fussed by it. I was under no delusions they would put us to the sword in this inning. If we had've posted 550 first dig and the roles were reversed then we would be smacking them about right now. Scoreboard situation fills the batsman with confidence etc.

I was surprised by Khawaja getting 170 odd and them caning us in the 1st dig though.
Would've, could've, should've, didn't.

You can have swing with a road. You can get swing on any pitch. Roads offer no seam movement or significant turn.

There was pace and carry if you were fast enough to make use of it - which no one in new zealand not named Milne is.

Given that he is a very good bowler, Boult's performance here hasn't been much better than Craig's

Confusing why we're still batting anyway, these flightless chickens won't even get close to 500.

Can only think they must be worried the Kiwahs will be offered the light if they crank up the pace. No other reason not to try and and get a couple of late poles once Warner got his ton.
