Richardson mentioned he thought Patel would come in as well.

Bit iffy about it myself.

Reckon NcCullum would be a much better pick within the context of the team.
Patel is a better FC bowler than Nathan McCullum.

*cringes*

Pity Bruce Martin has barely played this season, I still think he's the second best spinner in the country. Beard was impressive today but he's not ready yet.

Ironically, if we want two spinners and keep the batting, Williamson is a great choice.

True. If not Sinclair, my second choice would be Williamson, and tell him no pressure. Even if he fails, giving him the experience is better than a Patel-Southee-Arnel-Martin joke.

I don't buy the 'it will destroy him forever!' hype.

On another dead pitch we'd be better off bowling prank batting 'all-rounders' and stacking the batting as much as we can. I'd take a draw and a 1-0 series loss.

Is it just me, or has this been a ridiculously bad year for bowler injuries/retirements. Just off the top of my head...

Wellington
O'Brien (retired)
Gillespie (injured for most of the season)
Bowden (injured)
McKay (injured)

Canterbury
Bennett (injured for most of the season)
Burtt (injured)
Anderson (injured for most of the season)
Davidson (injured)
Bond (retired)

Otago
McMillan (injured)
McSkimming (injured for 2nd half of season)

Central
Mason (just became injured)
Thompson (injured)
Milne (just became injured)
McClenananananaanghan (injured)

Northern
Trent Boult (injured)
Ian Butler (injured)

Auckland
Lance Shaw (injured)
Kyle Mills (injured)
Tuffey (just became injured)

That's nearly 3 bowlers per team on average, including most of the younger talent and nearly men in domestic cricket. Is this indicative of some larger problem with the management of player work loads, and physio support at the domestic level? Or just bad luck?

Nah Te Ahu Davis has been fit all season, he just hasn't been able to crack the squad.
Almost. Davis made the squad for the pre-Christmas game against Canty, but was 12th man as he was 5th choice seamer (behind Arnel, Aldridge, Scott + allrounder Yovich). But with ND now picking spinner Bruce Martin in the playing XI, and with Trent Boult back from injury (12th man in last game vs Otago), Davis won't get a game.

How about Entwistle - the **** - comparing an addition to an average historic building to the Great Pyramids of Giza? Pathetic. I can never take him seriously again.

That was a truly remarkable comparison. Admittedly I've never seen the building myself, but it looks fairly unimpressive from what I've seen of it in TV coverage and photos.

Haha yeah, had a chuckle at that. Because an addition that wasn't even part of the original structure, that is less than a hundred years old, is the same as taking a chunk out of an Egyptian Pyramid. What a donkey.

FC cricket underway this morning.

CD on 91/0. Ingram on fire; 85* (57). Jamie How 9* (42). The ND attack is pretty solid too.

Wellignton are 59/2 against Otago with their saviour now at the crease. Sam Wells is listed to come in at numer five for Otago.

James Neesham on FC debut for Auckz as well.

Wellington moves suddenly from the worst batting order to the best. Bring back Brodie+Bell.

Papps 100 before lunch. From scoring.blackcaps.co.nz: MHW Papps: 100 off 93 balls (19 x 4), 100 runs in 132 mins. Just the sort of start you want when you need an outright win on the highway also known as Colin Maiden Park.

Anyone know more about Canty #11 MJ Vermuelen ?
