Williamson made runs against crappy CD medium pacers so obviously they don't count.8-)

Sarcasm aside, Pinga on 50* against an attack of Boult, Southee, Arnel and Martin, which according to a certain poster is apparently better than the NZ test attack without Bond. :p

If he goes big I'm going to laugh.

Nah they need Aldridge to be complete, must be injured I guess. Good to see Devcich continuing his good form too.
Man that Auckland team is looking a really well balanced side with Styris, Tuffey & Bopara in there as well as Bates having a breakthrough season...

Oram 0/73:sleep:

Napier 1/79 as well. After caning it for Welly he does that to us. CD bowlers curse.

Thompson 2/30 was a shining light though.

McGlashan also 50 of 41, another quick 50 this season. He should be in contention for the New Zealand 6-7 batting position tbh.

I was thinking Watling would make a pretty good number 6-7 in ODI cricket. Not because he is a big hitter, but he would work fantastically well with a big hitter alongside him. Picks the gaps well and is great at rotating the strike...can also play the cheeky shots behind square if in need of a boundary.

Anton Devcich doing nicely as an opener this season on the one dayers. Now that Watling is in the test side that means he can possibly try it our in the 4 day game too and Martin can be the specialist spinner.

Flynn out for 10 to Noema-Barnett.

Flynn is rubbish.

Good to see big Kieran Noema Barnett hitting it cleanly, he always had potential and is starting to show it. Just sad that he had to leave Otago to do so.

That was what I was implying.

Really has gone backwards. The Daniel Flynn that entered test cricket was vastly better to the one that should be taking a break from it. I don't think either version deserved to be there, but its pretty fustrating to see a guy that had some good tools go downhill so quickly.

Looks like the classic confidence destroyer international cricket can turn out to be. Has happened to numerous players...he'll come back better, hopefully he gets a bit of solid time in domestic cricket.

I think he's more someone who likes to get their eye in first though which is why he is so suited to opening. Granted he has played most of his 20/20 cricket batting down the order for ND and has played more than a few useful cameos but his S/R is still not far over 100. I think he would do OK but he is probably not the sort of player you want coming in needing 7-8 an over against very high quality bowling, unless of course there is a well set bastman at the other end. Definately a top order bat for mine anyway.

I was thinking he could get his eye in by rotating the strike, then branch out as his innings progressed. It's just a hunch really, similar to how Hamish Marshall got us home in a few games back when he was playing well, I think on those occasions he had McCullum at the other end doing the big hitting.

Pathetic bowling from Southee and Boult by the looks of things, Arnel and Southee are both god average one day bowlers but I thought Boult would do alright, ah well.

How about that Kane Williamson though
