Who's going to bat at three? Really sick of picking players that just aren't good enough tbh.We may actually see Vettori move back down to 8.

Well it's all about comparative advantage. I don't see the point in risking one of the best two batsmen in the team in a position they aren't completely comfortable with just to get Neil Broom into the team. Do you think Broom would offer more at three than Guptill? If so, get him in the team at three. If he fails there it takes a lot less away from the team than if Taylor or Ryder got up to three and fail.Agree. But Broom deserves his chance to play test cricket, he's averaging 42 with eight first-class 100's in 50 games. Not too many batsmen in New Zealand have those types of numbers that haven't played test cricket before. Why pick someone that isn't as well qualified as Broom is, that just doesn't make sense to me.
Agreed. Is an attack of Southee, Tuffey, Martin and Vettori going to take 20 wickets? Probably not very often.Tbh if Bond and O'Brien aren't available, a four man attack is a bit risky.
On the other hand, if Vettori stays at 6 we are going to continue with a huge tail and it's going to hurt. Despite his 80* Tuffeh is not a number 8.Agreed. Is an attack of Southee, Tuffey, Martin and Vettori going to take 20 wickets? Probably not very often.
Would Neil Broom offer more then Guptill at three, IMO yes, alot more tbh. What your've said is all very true and hard to argue against but I'm just sick of playing batsmen (Flynn for the last year) in a position like three where most people agree your best batsmen should bat. Instead of throwing younger players under a bus I think we should stop babying (Probably harsh but I can't think of anything else ) our better batsmen and put them in the most important part of the line-up. Heck, having Ryder or Taylor come in at three might help lift our openers to a higher level if they're batting with an attacking batsmen.Well it's all about comparative advantage. I agree that he's stiff to have not been given a Test yet, but his position's covered so it's a case of adapt or perish. Ryder and Taylor don't have to adapt; they've got their roles sorted and it's a needless risk to change them.
If Bond plays I have no problem with Ryder being the 5th bowler, and against the Aussie's that would probably be the best thing for this current batting line-up.On the other hand, if Vettori stays at 6 we are going to continue with a huge tail and it's going to hurt. I'd be expecting/ hoping for a bowling attack of Bond, Martin, Tuffey/ Southee, Vettori, Ryder for Australia.
I'd like to see (but doubt I'll get my way)So we could see some full strength sides of:
Auckland:
McIntosh, Guptill(or at 3?)/Raval, Bopara/Jones/Guptill, Bopara/Jones, Kitchen, Hopkins (+), de Boorder, Nethula, Bates/Erasmus, Bhupinder Singh
Northern: Wilson, Watling, Williamson/Flynn, Parlane, Marshall/Williamson/Flynn, Vettori, McGlashan, Aldridge, Southee, Scott/B Martin, Arnell
Ew they actually look strong.
CD:
Pinga, How, Patton, Taylor, Sinclair, Weston/Worker, Griggs (+), Thompson, Noema-Barnett, Rance, Mason
Honestly guys you have great batting just get some ****ing bowlers.
Otago:
Cumming, Redmond/Morgan, Haig, Broom, Todd, McCullum, McCullum, McSkimming, Wagner, McMillan, Harvie
Bit of a fan of this lineup, good bowling.
Wellington:
Bell, Brodie, Merchant/Parlane, Parlane/Merchant, Ryder, Woodcock, Rhodes, Austin-Smellie, Patel, Tugaga/Bowden, O'Brien, McKay
Canterbury:
Papps, Nicol, Fulton, Myburgh, Stewart, Harris, van Wyk (+), Anderson, Hiini, Bennett/Bond, Martin
One would hope that he will. He's stuck here until Christmas by all accounts, so there's no reason for him to just sit around doing nothing.O'Brien could still play for Wellington this season I reckon.
Most people say that you play your best batsman at 4 tbh.Would Neil Broom offer more then Guptill at three, IMO yes, alot more tbh. What an idiot.Rumour in Wellington is that former Cantab all-rounder Sonny Chan was about to get a call up for Wellington's one-day team, but then the training preceding the game, they changed the gameplan and went for a spinner instead.
Chan through a wobbler and a cricket ball in the [vague] direction of Wellington coach Anthony Stuart and could well have jeopardised his chances to play for Wellington. Could explain the weakness of the current Wellington bowling line up. Chan has had a couple of good seasons for Karori over the last two years and should really have had his opportunity for Wellington before now. Seems like hot-headedness is holding him back.
