Guess what, I rate Bennett even higher now after heading down to Seddon Park to watch todays play. I watched until McGlashan got out but he was bowling quick, and was beating the batsmen quite a lot. Corey Anderson also has a crap load of pace, he wouldn't be far of Bennett's pace either tbh plus he's a left armer. Can't wait until Anderson's ready to go for New Zealand, amazing all-round prospect.
Anderson bowling fast again? Thats good news. Was against the worst batting line up in the country though. Williamson at 3 is a promising sign of intent but he hasn't scored any runs yet.

Yep Anderson looked quick, he has such a strong looking action and just get's it down there quickly. He bowled Brad Wilson right through the gate with a ball that just looked to have beaten him with actual pace. If Bennett's 140+ Anderson wouldn't be too far off that 140+ speed.

On ND, we bowled decently well today. Brent Arnel was good, bowled pretty good lines and was unlucky early on with a few play and misses. But our batting, really poor. The bowling was good I'll give them that, but some of our batsmen played pretty poor strokes. It's great to see Williamson up at three but he has to score runs if he wants to stay there.

Canterbruy have easily been the better team and will have quite the bowling line-up when Bond and co return.

Bond + Martin almost instantly makes it one of the top bowling lineups domestically.

Is Anderson the type of bowler to generate any swing, or is he primarily an into the deck bowler like Bennett?

Luke Woodcock has scored a lot of runs so far this season at 5/6/7 for Wellington. I have never ever seen him play and didn't realise he was only 27 - would he be a chance some day to bat 6 for NZ?

Anderson's back bowling? Good to hear.

Lol at Bennett, knew he'd pull something out after last night. Hope he can deliver for Canterbury with consistency. Just to wind you up I will point out he was bowling to the batting might of ND. :p but good performance nonetheless.

Corey Anderson is quick? Good to hear as well, need his batting to get going now.

What's Arnel bowling like? You mentioned good line, has he moved the ball through the air or off the pitch?

I've only seen him in one day games which he isn't crash hot at.

Another fifty for Neil Broom, continuing on his good form quite well. Otago have recovered quite well from being ten for two to now nearing a hundred run partnership for Cumming and Broom.

Decent pace, I'd guess at 135 on average. He isn't a swing bowler but he does get movement of the pitch. He'd be a pretty good replacement for O'Brien tbh without trying to devalue what O'Brien brings to the New Zealand team.

I've seen Anderson bat quite a few times on TV (New Zealand under 19's and 20/20 mostly) and he's always looked impressive with the bat. He looked pretty good today tbh, he only made 30 odd but he looks like a good solid batsmen. You don't really want to bowl back of a length to him after watching him bat today though.

He's always looked a million dollars except he rarely scores big runs. Its annoying.

Shouldn't think so. Admittedly in the past three seasons, he's averaged 46.9, has the advantage of being a left hander, can bowl some decent left arm orthodox and by all accounts is an elegant and technically correct batsman. But he's always struck me as being somewhat limited and in any case would be way towards the back of the queu in terms of filling the vacant middle order spot.

Cumming making more runs today as well. I know he's 35, but surely he's a better bet than Guptill right now?

Cheers - yes had a feeling he'd done well with the bat the last couple of seasons as well. But always seems to be lumped in with the Yovichs etc who do well as all-rounders in domestic cricket but are not considered able to ever make the step up (most likely with good reason).
