And fair enough too, he was doing a lot less than he needed to.

Of course, you are talking to a guy who said Neil Wagner would only destroy Kookaburras for his mates at Test level and would be a flop, the same guy who talked up Mitchell Santner as a long-term Test option and only this year said CdG was done. Next, Will Young will become the next Alastair Cook and score 10,000 Test runs as an opener.
Given his age, if he scores 10,000 runs he'll be more Bradman than Cook :p

Apparently there's something about Keene's bowling that just begs for the batsmen to hang his bat outside off to a short-of-a-length ball and edge behind.

The statistical anomaly of his career so far aside, maybe he gets a touch more bounce than is expected from his pace and height.

In the non-Keene games, Popli and Raval have scored hundreds opening together, if scoring runs against CD a bit slow. On a Rangiora pitch greener than the outfield, Rutherford and D Phillips have scored 50s for Otago.

That looks to be a terrific debut hundred for Tim Robinson. Withstanding the Keeneslaught.

Counter attacking. Tbh, having lots of shots wasn't anything he looked to be missing. So, still more to learn about him in red ball. But good result.

Yeah, I thought he was going to be stranded when they were 9 down and he was on 88. Smashing Deport for six, sneaking a single and then doing the same to Somerville was an impressive way to bring up a maiden ton.

Next best for Wellington was Ravindra with 23.

Bhula really needs to make a score in this 2nd innings. Sadly, he’s constructing a pretty mediocre FC record at the moment.

Great for Robinson though - I’ll have to check out the highlights later. Not such a good 2nd game for Vishvaka though.

Was in Whangarei today and watched 1st and part of 3rd session. Not a great spectator ground for Plunket Shield as you can only sit square, and very little shade.

CD attack was pretty friendly. Pitch obviously flat. Ajaz steady, but caused Raval a little trouble on his pads in the afternoon, a couple of inside edges just past the close fielder.

Chatted briefly with Joe Walker on the way out, when I asked if he thought it would turn on day 3 and 4 he said "hope so" with a big grin, and rubbed his hands together in a way that might scare any CD fans that are reading this post.

I also watched a little of Solia and O'Donnell at EPOO yesterday. 4.5 hours cricket watching across 2 days and no wickets!

I haven't caught much domestic cricket this season but Smith looks noticeably quicker these days than I remember. He's definitely the fastest Wellingtonian on display.
Fastest and most controlled of the Wellington seamers. In the session I watched he bowled a fuller length than the other seamers, but was only driven for a 1 or 2 boundaries, and created a couple of almost-chances against century-makers Solia and O'Donnell. Looked like a potential test bowling all-rounder / 3rd seamer to me.

and that Rangiora pitch is ridiculous for this time of year

we are going back to producing mono-cricketers. Gonna burn us so bad.
