CDs bowling is pretty light today but KNB isn't the issue. He's a damn handy allrounder for CD, especially with the bat in the short forms. Takes a stupid amount of FC wickets too for someone who bowls 100kph.

Ferguson aside, Auckland also look pretty light on real bowling today.

Also I think Tom Bruce should be considered for test cricket. Already arguably the best batsman in his team in all forms.

Another Ford Trophy gripe.

Only 2 games a week (which is ok), but no reserve day.

So like last round when 2 of them are washed out, then 66% of the nation's pro cricketers played 1 day of cricket in 7 days. Or is that 1 day in 10 days?

They are contracted full time for this 7 months .....

KNB, why oh why would CD get him back.. Classic medium pacer bits and pieces player who doesn't deliver consistent runs. Their bowling looks weak today, maybe they are just desperate to play someone with experience.

Phillips doing well is great news, hope he plays first class cricket. Gets hundys. Will Young is having a shitter.
Not really learning much about Phillips here though (I say in complete ignorance of his wagon wheel).

Young extremely promising batsmen who's very, very go to shot is the aerial pull/hook, scores runs on really tiny non-ICC standard EPOO.

Our professional cricket circuit should be providing a tougher test than that for young players to develop their games.

This actually within NZCs control (stipulate an ICC standard for grounds so that players learn in a realistic 'class room').

All the same. Pleased he's hitting runs, hopeful for his future.

Along with Clarkson he looks like someone who will be in the National team sooner rather than later, looks to have a lot of ability.

Confused about Young's dismissal, how did that not clear the boundary? Went a solid 25m.

Rippon playing is interesting. I wonder if he's just doing it to fill in a gap and earn a bit of money or if he thinks he might stick around and try to qualify.
Saffers really liking the New Zealand cricket market at the moment.

Ajaz Patel still not given a wicket for a stumping last round. Basing this on his career stats online.

I'm sure he would like that List A average halved from 200 to 100.

i was going to say no but then i remembered southee, milne and ferguson were all picked really early so maybe

but leaning towards the usual suspects.

Is Viljoen classed as a local? Already?

How can he and Rippon play in same 11?
The same way Wagner and Finn were opening the bowling together in 2011, probably. A guy pledged in writing to NZC's qualifying period doesn't take up an MA's import slot.

Speaking of Finn, Tickner joined Finn in being that type of bang-it-in merchant who quite likes bowling on an Eden Park pitch at this time of year. Pitch map just not quite tight enough.

Zak Gibson a possible bolter for the South African ODI's?
Let's see how he goes in his fourth List A game at age 19 before we get too excited, shall we?

Can't see any surprises for the rest of the summer, bowling or batting wise. But Jamieson, Tickner have to be moving into the mix.

Auckland desperately need some bowling talent as well, Mike Barry at first change is not a great situation to be in.

Tickner looked better there than he has in any other highlights I'd caught. Quicker and with more seam movement. Wonder if he swings the red ball.

Pleased to see Gibson going well and ND should be commended for showing faith in someone with obvious talent, because as far as I remember batsmen have smashed his bowling everywhere in nearly every game he's played prior to this one.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
I think Ferguson was the bolter for the summer. Don't think we'll see anyone else, bar injury.
