That's because Millmow has moved on from dompost. It's Lyam Hislop writing now. The players used to hate Millmow's rutheless writing.
Millmow? Ruthless? I've had more ruthless bouts of constipation. I thought I would celebrate his departure, but his successor is just as inane.

Chapman probably deserved a bump up the order before this game. Will he get a go in the Plunket Shield after the OD stuff is over?

What's the qualification for Chapman? Just in case.. :P

Adding him along with Phillips and O'donnell gives the Aces an exciting look. Couple fast bowlers would be nice though! Lockie has promise.

He has a NZ father.and he's good to be picked right now I'd say. He's already played in games where James Fuller was in the XI.

Whatever happened to Raki Weerasundara? He was the only one to play U19 WC couple of years ago from Wellington. Is he ever going to get a hit? Last saw him bat at no.8 for As.
Oh they definitely tried to get RW away as a top-order player, he just kept delivering very poor returns at Wgtn A, Wgtn City and club level. Trying to loosen up that eye-catching flair he used to exude by converting him into an engine roomer wasn't the worst idea tbh.

To be fair to RW the sub standard club pitches in Wellington makes look mediocre trundler like Wasim Akram. I'd think if one has the goods or if NZ Cricket invested in him by selecting him for the U19 squad he should have got a look in right after the WC. You have to chose players when they are in form and not base his ability on sub standard tracks. I think CW missed a trick with him.

FIrebirds have been disappointing after the start of the season. It's gone from bad to worse. On paper they aren't that bad but just can't translate into performances. For starters the bowling has been awful barring one or two. Murdoch isn't scoring prolifically since Christmas and the rest just haven't come to party. It's quite hard to keep chasing big runs day in day out. There definitely needs some changes but where are the next rung of players? I can't quite see too many outstanding players in club cricket making a bee line for selection. Maybe there's an opening for Johnson brothers from Hutt? Matt Bacon the CD lad that plays for Upper Hutt perhaps. Who's going to be replacing the likes of Papps, Luke, Grant, Jeets and couple other rookies that haven't gone all that well in the last couple of years. I hope it's not yet another bunch of folks from elsewhere with no local talents encouraged. Maybe Fraser Colson?

I would love it if they promoted Weerasundara and Colson. Have been waiting for him to emerge since this article.

Cricket folk are encouraged by his ability to play fast bowling and score quickly, football judges like his touch and ability to read a game. "I just look at which sport is going to give me the best opportunity. Two years ago it was soccer (Under 17 World Cup in South Korea) and last year it was cricket (Under 19 World Cup in Malaysia).

I miss Millmow. He was prepared to be critical & maybe carried greater authority as an ex-player (that in turn may have made some more sensitive to his comments). I remember he questioned fairly early on whether McMillan's eyesight was affecting his form in the early/mid 2000's. It wasn't a popular thing to say. He got under Iain O'Brien's skin to the extent he would often tweet about Millmow being overly critical of the Wellington side.

He'd get to say 25 and then get out to the club spinners too though tbf.

Yeah, the shot selection was just too loose and frenetic to have had anything other than a miserable emergence at top level domestic until he's 21-22, imo. A bit like Nick Kelly's temperament.

The most famous or infamous of all was his criticism of national selectors choosing Grant Elliot over Jimmy Neesham. Rest is history as they say 8-)

Fair enough I just hope he doesn't give up and move on like so many promising cricketers in the recent past in Wellington.

Certainly wouldn't be the first bassist to be intrigued by Carlos D's handiwork with drummer Sam Fogarino on the early Interpol albums, Albi. Carlos an absolute **** to interview or make records with, however.

Millmow was a myopic kneejerker who clearly avoided anything involving actual research.
