Yep taking McClenaghan and Munro away from Auckland is a bit like taking Broad and Stokes away from England, it seems. Remove the beauty and the beast, you're left with a bit of a meek vibe.

Wheeler with enough shape to threaten a RHB with an lbw shout, for once. He got the wicket with one of his 'would've been a peach to a left-hander' ones though, down leg.

Apart from stodgy Woodcock who seems to have clicked with gritty Edgar, it's almost like there's a vibe of yearning for the return to Siddons' casually bullish spruiking and ego massaging atm.

I've watched him play in the 17s and the 19s. Don't expect him to look technically correct. He has his way to score and is comfortable with his technique. Excellent timer of the ball, not all that big physically but packs a punch. Don't look for purist sort of batting as in Ravindra. Leopard is different in taking the attack to the opponents no matter what the situation is. It will frustrate at times if he doesn't go on but boy when he does, there's no stopping him. He's like Corey Andreson from the 2008 U19s.

You just can't take away from Leopard the way he's gone about so far on this tour. He's probably been the biggest match winner along with G Phillips.

Sure there are others but so far these two have been unbelievable.
Cue the Kippax hate in 3,2,1...

Corey still wishes he could get to a score like 116 against Pakistan U19 without biffing it to deep midwicket or cover.

Why hasn't Jonathan Millmow taken up the mantle of writing a damning expose into the failures of Cricket Wellington at both the top level and also, and probably more importantly, the grassroots. If Rutherspud is a spud, then Wellington are over watered instant mash. Spuds with little or no substance.

It's been an impressive display of crashing, burning, and somehow crashing again and burning some more for Wellington over the last 10 or so years.

That's because Millmow has moved on from dompost. It's Lyam Hislop writing now. The players used to hate Millmow's rutheless writing.

FIrebirds have been disappointing after the start of the season. It's gone from bad to worse. On paper they aren't that bad but just can't translate into performances. For starters the bowling has been awful barring one or two. Murdoch isn't scoring prolifically since Christmas and the rest just haven't come to party. It's quite hard to keep chasing big runs day in day out. There definitely needs some changes but where are the next rung of players? I can't quite see too many outstanding players in club cricket making a bee line for selection. Maybe there's an opening for Johnson brothers from Hutt? Matt Bacon the CD lad that plays for Upper Hutt perhaps. Who's going to be replacing the likes of Papps, Luke, Grant, Jeets and couple other rookies that haven't gone all that well in the last couple of years. I hope it's not yet another bunch of folks from elsewhere with no local talents encouraged. Maybe Fraser Colson?

Whatever happened to Raki Weerasundara? He was the only one to play U19 WC couple of years ago from Wellington. Is he ever going to get a hit? Last saw him bat at no.8 for As.
