So that means Jess will be a Firebird again, or not bother at all...

Presuming the tearaway would be Ferguson, although he was getting plenty of opportunities in Auckland so it'd be an interesting move.

There's a couple of guys in the Auckland set-up close to walking away from the game altogether, and not necessarily because they're getting too old.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Ryder to CD, actually.

Don't think he will be going back to the Firebirds, from what I've heard he wasn't an overly liked man there during his last year, especially by the men in ties.

Nope, the quick isn't Ferguson - from what I've been told this lad is a recent graduate of the U19's Auckland.

2015/16 transfer news.

Otago's set to sign Anaru Kitchen, Brad Wilson and a young Auckland tear away quick, who I wasn't told the name of.

Jesse Ryder won't be returning.
Cool, hopefully that will allow more opportunities for Phillips and Seifert at Auckland and ND respectively.

Who is the Auckland coach now?

Robbie O'Donnell's dad. I mean no flippancy by that, Robbie is a gun and will get all the opportunities he deserves. And Glen Phillips is a special talent as well, who hopefully has worked on his front foot game because domestic attacks will know to stay away from short to him.

May be Brett Randall to Otago then, not that he's massively quick.

Good to see Sodhi selected for the Zim ODI leg.

Just need to see Astle as 2nd test spinner and I'm happy.

Btw. Sodhi needs to work on his fielding and athleticism if we are going down the white ball route. He resembles his idol Kumble.

I actually think Sodhi's been very good in working on getting himself in as good a shape as he can in that regard tbh. He was mentioning that being a huge focus for him way back in his first interviews with NDTV.

I'm not sure everyone with cricket talent can become as agile as NcCullum or Devcich in the field merely through hard training itbt. Thicko Black Caps fans will just have to get used to carrying a bit of a piss-weak Indian unco on their books in the next ten years I guess, as much as they've always been keen to make Jeets feel bad about it.

Sheffield Shield coming to Canterbury

Cricket Australia will take the unprecedented step of playing a Sheffield Shield game in New Zealand to help its test side prepare for local conditions.

Lincoln's Bert Sutcliffe Oval will host the first class match between New South Wales and Western Australia in February.

The match has been shifted there instead of playing a tour game prior to the two test series.

Cricket Australia high performance manager Pat Howard says a warm-up game would have had to happen during the Chappell-Hadlee series and would have a negative impact on the four-day competition.

There has never been a Sheffield Shield fixture played outside Australia.

I don't get this, not all Aussies play for those two teams.
Haha that's the thing though; they pretty much do!

Of the eleven playing in Cardiff right now, only Rogers doesn't play for NSW or WA, and he'll probably retire after the Ashes anyway. Shaun Marsh, seemingly his likely replacement, plays for WA.

Confirmed that Otago have added Wilson and Kitchen. Neil Broom is also heading south again, along with Warren Barnes from Auckland.

They'll have a pretty bloody strong batting line up at this rate...

Rutherford
Wilson
Bracewell
Broom
Kitchen
Neesham

Indeed. I've always rated Kitchen, unlucky never to get a chance at higher honours. Especially on tours in which some of our top players have sat out.
