As he hasn't actually played for England, he can turn around and play for New Zealand immediately if he feels like it. Sussex may sue him for breach of contract but beyond that he's fine under ICC regulations.
Right, okay that changes whatever I might've said about him at the time and the merits of picking him as a T20 player etc.

Some ****ness to fuller lengths, but the back-foot play really makes an impression late in the video. Born in Eastern Cape.

I dunno if there's too much special about Daryl Mitchell or Michael Bracewell. You've seen their possible international careers already in the likes of How, Flynn, Rutherford etc - and that's being very kind.
Yeah agree with this. Realistically the young batting talent in New Zealand, ie the guys who have yet to play an international is pretty poor. Craig Cachopa is probably the best by a wee bit and even then he's always seemed like a proper flat track bully (like most Auckland batsman). Mitchell can't play spin for turd and Bracewell just looks like a big front foot plodder. I haven't seen much of Will Young but his stats don't suggest he's anything special at the moment either.

Somebody mentioned after the first test whether the standard of first class cricket had improved by so much that we were now seeing it's results bare fruit at the test level. It probably has over the past 10-15 years but I think New Zealand have just fluked some sort of talent boom. The 2008 and 2010 Under 19 World cup teams produced Tim Southee, Trent Boult, Kane Williamson, Corey Anderson, Tom Latham, Jimmy Neesham, Doug Bracewell. Guys like Adam Milne and Matt Henry couldn't even make the 2010 squad (and Milne was playing internationals by the end of that year). If you look at the teams from 2012 and 14 (hard to do with 14 obvs) it doesn't look as rosey.

Is MJ Mason turning out for Central Districts A, the former NZ cricketer Michael Mason? BJ Barnett brings up his hundred and Walsh finally getting some runs on 56.

The NZC website seems to think so, but I can't imagine why he'd be playing unless he was gearing up for a comeback (which would be glorious, obviously).

Isn't he coaching down at CD? Perhaps a player or two pulled out with an injury this morning and he had to front up. Otherwise yeah that's really strange.

That sounds the most likely scenario. Looks like he's still got it, their best bowler so far.

Nice to see Walsh ton up.

How many runs do ND score today? 400 on the cards looking at that line up.

Edit: and right on cue Flynn is run out.

Yeah that was an amazing glut and we could really do with another one because Kane and Latham will need some help in the top four once Ross and Baz are gone.

Sam Wells has quietly gone about turning from being a white ball chump to a valuable allrounder in 50 over cricket for Otago this season. He's making decent contributions as an opening and bowling tidy sets of 10.

effin eh it would. If he wasn't so grumpy I would turn up to a game and get his autograph. Knowing Mase he would bark at me for trying.

Auckland used 5 different bowlers for 1 over each in first 5 overs of the game.

Timaru: making ListA like T20 since 2015.

Yeah, that is good to see. Pleased also to see Pollard get a fifty with Milne in the attack.

Another run fest at Aorangi Oval, Tastle cashing in at the end. Auckland should still have a reasonable chance of chasing down 311. Looks like Matt Henry has been rested/left out of the Canterbury side?

Nice figures for Milne, and he got two of Wellington's best cheap too.
Before the start of the test yesterday Trent boult was warming up bowling some deliveries on a practice strip on the centre block. Suddenly this young bloke bowled one after him and he looked quicker than Boult and I thought I must be mistaken Boult is 140lkms on a good day and this is just some squad member. As I watched I realised from the run up and bowling action (I was 100 metres away) it was Milne warming up with the blackcaps. On 3 ocassions the guy with the catchers mitt standing 15 metres back from the pitch couldn't handle his heat and it busted through his glove and went down to the boundary. Half of Milne's deliveries hit the plastic stumps as well.

His action live looks better than TV.

If I am mistaken and Milne wasn't in Wellington yesterday then it was a mystery man.

Nah you're spot on; Milne was sub fielding for a little while and everything.

Earthquake in Canterbury hasn't stopped the A games. Leo Carter a nice 79, Ken McClure off the mark with a six.
