You preach the gospel of common sense.

My ODI team would be FWIW:

McCullum
Ryder
Fulton (sorry Howitzer, you're awesome but your form is awful :()
Taylor
Broom
Oram
Elliott
Franklin
Vettori
Mills
Southee
Personally I'd go with:

McCullum
Ryder
How
Fulton
Taylor
Oram
Elliott
Vettori
Mills
Southee
<extra bowler yet to be found>

I would rather have Frankling focus on Test cricket first, he's always been crap at ODI's even though he does have the plus that he can bat.

Pinga ripping it up. Last update I heard he's 73* (66). A bit of an inconsistent player, but he's a gun in domestics when on form.

Our best batsman at number 5? That makes sense...

That’s debatable.
Is it really such a bad thing? If he comes in late in the innings, the batsman above him must have done a good job, no? And if he comes in early, then we have our “best batsman” to rescue us. Of course he can go up the order if need be, but I don’t see such a big problem with him batting at 5. Better than batting Fulton down at 5 or 6.

liking that Boult is getting alot of his wickets bwld or is that just NZ batsman technique for ya?
Since i've been following him (the U19 WC onwards) i've noticed he gets a hell of a lot of wickets by bowling people...mainly with the new ball. He did it all throughout the U19 WC and also on the A tour to India and the Emerging Players Tourny. I have no idea why it is, because I havn't seen him bowl in any of the matches where he has taken wickets...i'm guessing he's bowling full, swinging it back in at a decent pace and the batsmen are playing around it.

For mine Taylor should be seeing as much of the bowling as possible (in ODI's anyway) once the shine is off the ball. If he comes in late in the innings I have no doubt he could score more runs at a quicker rate than the guys who went in before him did. 5 is a position or two to low for mine.

Fair enough.
I actually think 4 is a good place for him, but was making up the list and had no place to put Fulton, so he went at 4.

I still think 3 is too high for him though.
The top order is pretty much set I suppose with McCullum, Ryder, How, Taylor.
Its the Middle to Lower order that's a problem, because at the moment we are playing Flynn there and I think he has had enough of a go there for mine. I suppose there is still Styris to come in at 5, and if Elliott has done more than enough in ODI's to keep his spot.

McCullum
Ryder
How
Taylor
Styris
????
Elliott
Vettori
Mills
Southee
????

So thats the question. Who do you see filling in number 6 and 1st change with the ball?

With the new coach do you think Flynn will continue to get a shot? The selectors have shown a lot of faith in him. I see it is sort of paying of at test level, but he has been fairly ordinary at ODI level. Also, with Fulton, I don't see him being of any use unless he comes in at 3 or 4. So maybe the only shot for him in this side would be if McCullum drops back down the order and How opens. But I would rather see the McCullum/Ryder opening partnership continue as it has gone quite well so far.

It'll be Flynn and Gillespie IMO. Not necessarily who I'd pick, but that's who it'll be.

Boults a gun. Looks like Jimmy Franklin iirc too. When Martin and O'Brien leave he'll be considered most definitely.

Would rate Fulton a better batsman than How. Both arent the quickest scorers but Fulton would be better at no3. How misses out altogether.

IIRC Boult used to wear a ridiculous head band is he still wearing it?
Yeah, he did, and yeah, I think he still does (don't quote me on that).

I'd like to see Broom get the number 6 spot.

My ODI team for this summer would be:

Ryder
McCullum
Fulton
Taylor
Styris
Broom
Oram
Franklin
Vettori
Mills
Southee

Bats very deep, and some great hitting power lower with Oram and Frankin, and i'm pretty sure Broom can clear the boundary if required. Could also shift any of the middle/lower order up the list if required.

So Ingram gets his 200 and is currently on 218*. Statement to the selectors? I think he has been on the fringe for a couple of season's and I think this innings proves something. If he gets the 300 I think an instant call-up for the WI tour could be possible.
